Chapter 319 Realization
Mark's slap left Ashley completely stunned.
In their decades of marriage, it was the first time Mark had ever hit her.
Ashley came from a powerful family background, and Mark had always been careful not to cross her. He was always placating her. But this time, he hit her in public, which Ashley could not tolerate.
Ashley immediately burst into tears. In a rage, she shouted, "Mark, I'll divorce you."
After saying that, Ashley stormed off in a fury.
Mark's slap pleased Arya quite much, though it was unexpected.
Ashley had dared to plot against Maggie's bone marrow. That slap was actually quite mild.
Maggie, who was watching the scene from outside the store, was also quite surprised. Mark and Ashley's relationship was definitely strained now, and there would be a better show to come.
As soon as Mark delivered the slap, he regretted it.
But with so many people watching, he couldn't go after Ashley.
Holden then praised him, "Sir, well done. If it were my wife, I would have hit her long ago."
Brian added, "A woman needs to be disciplined when necessary."
The onlookers also chimed in, "She went too far. So arrogant even as a mistress."
"You can tell this lady has had a hard life. It's not easy for a woman to raise a child alone."
"A good woman shouldn't be mistreated."
Mark looked at Arya and felt a pang of guilt, sincerely saying, "Arya, I'm sorry. I failed you."
This time, Mark was truly sincere, but Arya was no longer moved. However, outwardly, she still pretended to be magnanimous and said, "It's all in the past, Mark. You should talk to Ashley properly. If she doesn't agree to let Maggie and me stay, we'll go back to Cyberland. I'll leave now."
She was being so gracious.
After saying this, Arya didn't bother with any pretense and walked out directly.
Mark wanted to go after her, but Holden deliberately blocked his way and said, "Sir, a good woman shouldn't be let down. Don't make yourself regret it. A man who can abandon his wife and daughter isn't a real man."
This way, Mark could no longer see Arya.
The onlookers gradually dispersed, and when Mark called Ashley, she hung up immediately.
Mark was frustrated. As he walked out of the mall, he received a call from his father-in-law, who scolded him harshly.
When he got home, Ashley packed up and left, and Timothy even called to ask what had happened.
Mark was furious from all the scolding and wanted to seek some comfort from Aary, but she didn't answer his calls either.
Now, he had angered both sides.
Arya and Maggie returned to the hotel together. From what had just happened, Maggie could tell what Arya was up to.
Arya wanted to create discord between Mark and Ashley.
She was in a very good mood and gave all the jewelry she had bought to Maggie. "Maggie, keep these. When we go back to Cyberland, you can sell them or keep them. It will help ease the pressure on you and Fiorello."
Maggie couldn't help but laugh and cry. "Mom, you were out all day, and you gave everything to me and Fiorello?"
"I've consulted about it. Those houses, shares, and other assets can be taken back, but as for the jewelry, if Mark wants to take it back, it won't be easy," Arya said with a smug look, "Isn't your mom smart?"
"Smart," Maggie laughed and said, "Mom, Fiorello, and I don't need these. After today's scene at the mall, Ashley and Mark are definitely not on good terms, but a divorce is unlikely. What's your goal?"
"I know it's not easy to get your dad to divorce Ashley, and I don't really want that. I just want to make them miserable," Arya laughed and said, "We got quite a bit today. Maggie, nothing is interesting in London. I'll go back with you."
When Mark hit Ashley, Arya also realized that Mark was selfish and loved only himself.
Staying here, she would eventually be schemed against by Mark and would also implicate Maggie.
Arya wouldn't allow Mark to harm her daughter.
