Chapter 351 Prenuptial Agreement
Fiorello rushed over to Maggie and grabbed her hand.
Her palm was ice-cold.
"Why are you here? I told Brian to take you back," Fiorello said, shooting Brian a frosty glare as he walked in.
Brian shrugged. "Mr. Flores, Maggie insisted."
Maggie squeezed Fiorello's hand. "It's not his fault. I wanted to come. We're a couple; we should face everything together. I can't leave it all to you."
Maggie was nervous, which explained her cold hands.
On the way back to Cityhomes West, she had changed her mind and asked Brian to bring her over.
The conflict within the Flores family started because of her; she couldn't hide from it.
Maggie glanced at Kimberly, then at Joseph and Eleanor. She didn't say anything, just bowed deeply.
Her bow made Joseph and Eleanor uncomfortable.
Eleanor actually liked Maggie a lot and was very satisfied with her as a daughter-in-law. Even now, she still liked her.
Just like Holden said, they could do IVF, and as for Maggie's past, it wasn't really unacceptable.
Of course, Eleanor couldn't deny that part of her acceptance of Maggie was due to Kimberly's opposition. Everyone had a bit of a rebellious streak in their heart.
Kimberly was dissatisfied with Maggie, but Eleanor saw herself in Maggie.
She didn't want Maggie to walk the same difficult path she had.
After bowing, Maggie sincerely confessed, "I'm sorry to disappoint you. Let me reintroduce myself. My name is Maggie. I graduated from high school and dropped out of college after less than a semester. I taught myself French and German."
After dropping out, Maggie hadn't given up on learning. She had a great talent for languages and taught herself two languages, though she hadn't taken any certification exams. However, she had no problem communicating.
Maggie spoke calmly, "I once signed up for a night school, but due to an accident, I didn't take the test. I love jewelry design and have sold items at street stalls. I grew up in a single-parent household. A few years ago, due to some circumstances, I had a daughter out of wedlock. My daughter's whereabouts are unknown, and due to health issues, it's very difficult for me to conceive again."
Maggie fully disclosed everything she should have confessed long ago, so the Flores family wouldn't have to hear it from other sources.
After Maggie finished speaking, Eleanor's eyes were red. She could understand her feelings. Maggie now was like herself twenty years ago, longing for the family's approval.
After hearing Maggie's story, Fiorello felt even more heartache for her.
Kimberly, however, was still unhappy. "A woman like you, do you think you're worthy of marrying into the Flores family?"
"Grandma." Fiorello's tone grew colder.
Maggie secretly tugged Fiorello's hand, signaling him not to confront Kimberly.
Maggie forced a smile and said gracefully, "Grandma, Fiorello is indeed excellent. Honestly, a few months ago, I wouldn't have dared to dream of being his wife. In every way, I don't match up to him. Besides a sincere heart, I have nothing else to offer him."
Kimberly snorted, "At least you have some self-awareness. Even if you hadn't had a child, you still wouldn't be qualified to be my granddaughter-in-law."
Facing Kimberly's slander, Maggie remained calm and said, "But I am already a member of the Flores family. That's a fact. Fiorello and I have already gotten a marriage certificate. Grandma, whether you accept it or not, I don't plan to divorce him."
This made Kimberly very angry. "You're really too much."
Fiorello didn't stop Maggie, letting her continue.
Eleanor and Joseph also remained silent, and Holden certainly didn't speak up.
Maggie tightened her grip on Fiorello's hand and said to Kimberly, "Grandma, you don't need to be angry because of me. I'm not after the Flores family's money. I'm willing to sign an agreement. If in the future, Fiorello gets tired of me, or I get tired of him, I'll leave the Flores family with nothing."
"You dare to get tired of Fiorello?" Mrs. Flores was displeased.
