Chapter 65 A Soul-Shattering Revelation

Indeed, Fiorello was a man with many responsibilities. Before he left the office, he entrusted the company's affairs to Holden.

Secretary William Harrison, ever the diligent aide, followed him promptly. Fiorello, with a hint of concern in his voice, asked, "What is the status of Samwise?"

William, with a hint of satisfaction, replied, "Mr. Flores, the matter has been handled. They won't recover from this blow. His law firm has been forced to close, and Samwise's reputation within the industry has been irreparably tarnished. His license to practice law has been revoked; he won't be causing any more trouble."

"Keep a close watch on him. Desperate men like Samwise might resort to desperate measures when cornered," Fiorello warned. His primary concern was the safety of Maggie. The fate of Samwise was of little importance to him.

"I understand," William assured him.

Exiting the Visionary Futures Group building, Fiorello was greeted by a gleaming Rolls-Royce parked at the entrance. He slid into the back seat, followed by William. The driver started the car, and they were off. Fiorello had a social engagement to attend, a meeting with a bank president.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Samwise was in a dire state. He had been brutally beaten, sustaining multiple soft tissue injuries and broken ribs. For now, he was confined to his hospital bed.

Sarah's eyes were swollen from incessant crying. Her husband had been arrested, their son was hospitalized, and their factory and law firm were no more. The Gamgee family was drowning in debt, and creditors had started to knock on their door. The future looked bleak.

Lying on the hospital bed, Samwise was filled with resentment.

Just then, Jane arrived. She was shocked to see Samwise, who had been perfectly fine the previous night, now lying in the hospital with serious injuries. "Samwise," Jane said sympathetically, "how could they do this to you? It's just a debt, but their actions were life-threatening."

Upon seeing Jane, Samwise seemed to regain some of his spirit. He struggled to sit up. "Jane, did you find out what I asked you to investigate?"

"I did," Jane replied, her expression grave. "Samwise, once you recover, we should leave the country. You can't fight this person."

A sense of unease washed over Samwise. He asked loudly, "Who is it? What kind of background does this person have?"

Jane answered, her voice heavy with seriousness, "It's Fiorello, the CEO of Visionary Futures Group."

Samwise felt as if he had been struck by lightning on a clear day. He had assumed that Fiorello might have some connections, but he had never expected that Fiorello himself was the influential figure, the head of the Flores family.

"How...how is that possible?" Samwise stammered, refusing to believe it. "He was driving a car that costs only around twenty thousand that day, and he didn't look like a wealthy person at all. He doesn't even wear luxury brands. He's just a loser. How could he be the president of Flores's family with a net worth of hundreds of billions? Didn't Maggie say he was just a worker?"

Jane replied, "I didn't believe it at first either. I met an old acquaintance who is now a high-ranking executive at Visionary Futures Group. It’s definitely true, Maggie's husband is Visionary Futures Group CEO Fiorello."

"No, no, it must be someone with the same name. I've been to their neighborhood, Cityhomes West, and it's just an average neighborhood. How could the president of Flores's family live there?" Samwise was in denial. If this was the truth, then his previous sense of superiority was a cruel joke.

At a class reunion, he had boasted about his chance encounter with the CEO of Visionary Futures Group. In Fiorello's eyes, was he nothing more than a clown?

Samwise couldn't accept such a blow. It was a soul-shattering revelation.

Just an hour ago, he had called Maggie and threatened her, still thinking about how to turn his life around.

If Fiorello was indeed the CEO of Visionary Futures Group, then he would never be able to turn his life around.

"Samwise, why don't you come back with me overseas? You can't compete with Flores's family. The law firm and factory went bankrupt overnight. This is the best proof," Jane advised. "If you continue to be stubborn, you'll only suffer."

Samwise shook his head, looking somewhat absent-minded, and muttered to himself, "How could the CEO of Visionary Futures Group be interested in that bitch, Maggie?"

Upon hearing Samwise's derogatory comment about Maggie, Jane was taken aback. Last time, Samwise was determined to win Maggie's love, and his admiration was evident. Why would he now insult Maggie and say such vulgar things?

Just then, Samwise's phone rang. Seeing the caller display, he became excited. It was the private investigator he had hired to investigate Maggie.

Samwise answered the call eagerly, asking, "Did you find anything?"
