Chapter 293 Clarifying the Date
Maggie thought, 'To get a marriage certificate with Farrell. Had he lost his mind?'
Maggie struggled to speak, but Farrell glared at her viciously and said, "You've caused me so much trouble; you must marry me. You were always meant to be mine."
As he spoke, Farrell stabbed a small knife into the table, the gleaming blade making Maggie's heart race.
She was at the mercy of others, not daring to make a move.
She remained silent, simply staring at Farrell.
Farrell had drunk quite a bit and was starting to get drunk, talking to himself, "I'm over thirty now, and I still don't have a wife. Women avoid me, and I'm looked down upon at the company. Everyone wants to deceive me. My money has been swindled by you all, and you still want to take advantage of me. A bunch of bastards, you all think I'm easy to fool."
The more Farrell spoke, the more agitated he became. Suddenly, he stood up with the knife and walked over to Maggie.
Maggie instinctively shrank back, fearing that Farrell might harm her in his excitement.
As Maggie trembled in fear, Farrell reached out and tore the tape from her mouth, shouting, "Why did you deceive me? You conspired with them to trick me. I've had enough. I was fired from my job, and a barbershop scammed me. I just wanted a haircut, and they charged me fourteen hundred dollars, saying it was based on the area. Damn it, they think I'm easy to fool."
Farrell roared, venting his anger, the smell of alcohol overwhelming Maggie.
From Farrell's rant, Maggie learned about his ordeal with the barbershop.
"Farrell, calm down," Maggie said softly, not daring to raise her voice. Her hands and feet were bound, and Farrell had a knife. She didn't even dare to call for help.
At this time and in this place, no one would come to her rescue.
If she dared to shout for help, even if a kind person came to save her, Farrell's knife would be faster.
"You deceived me and still want me to calm down. I can't calm down." Farrell's face was red, his neck bulging. Gripping the knife tightly, he trembled with rage.
"Maggie, you must think I'm really stupid to conspire with the dating website to deceive me."
Maggie suppressed her fear and said, "I never deceived you, Farrell. Let's calm down and talk this through. There must be some misunderstanding. Why would I deceive you?"
Farrell's temper flared. "You're still lying to me. On the day I was fired, you and Owen from the dating website conspired to deceive me. You agreed to meet me at a bar, ordered over twenty thousand dollars worth of drinks, and made me pay. Another scam. You're just a scammer."
"Farrell, there must be some misunderstanding. I don't even know Owen, and I have no idea about any scam. I never agreed to meet you." Maggie was bewildered. "I'm already married. Why would I go on a date? Farrell, you must have been deceived."
"Yes, I was deceived by you all." Farrell wouldn't listen and didn't believe Maggie. "I don't care. You agreed to meet me, spent all my money, and now you must marry me. Otherwise, I'll kill you. Two choices, you decide."
Maggie realized she couldn't reason with Farrell, so she chose to remain silent.
Farrell took another swig of his drink, and thinking of his misfortune, he began to cry.
"I worked so hard to save about ten thousand dollars to get married, and it was all swindled by you. I still owe a lot of money. You promised to find me a wife, but you didn't keep your word."
Farrell was convinced that Maggie was in cahoots with the dating website.
Maggie explained, "Farrell, I really didn't deceive you. Before joining the company, I didn't even know you. I did use the dating website, but I never conspired with them to deceive you. And I'm already married. Why would I go on a date with you? This must be a mistake by the dating website."
Maggie didn't know what she said wrong, but Farrell exploded again, pointing the knife at her. "You say you don't know me? I've been deceived by you twice. You say you don't know me. Five months ago, at Mocha Haven Cafe, didn't you agree to meet me?"
Hearing Mocha Haven Cafe and five months ago, Maggie was stunned.
Because that was the day and place, she had a date with Fiorello.
Farrell was extremely agitated. "The dating website notified me to go. I remember it clearly. The date's name was Maggie. It was you. I was just a little late, and when I got to the cafe, you weren't there. Was that also a scam with the dating website?"
