Chapter 545 Find a Way to Meet Mark
After Melissa had a kidney transplant, she took almost a year to recover, and her health improved.
At this moment, Melissa looked rosy and radiant, beautiful and captivating.
Even after recovering, Melissa did not make public appearances. She quietly enriched herself by reading books and learning management from teachers.
She became Timothy's assistant. Timothy didn't have a knack for business, but he was the only boy in the Jackson family, and only he could inherit the company to gain everyone's support.
Now, it seemed like Timothy was running the Jackson Group, but in reality, Melissa was the one controlling everything behind the scenes.
Timothy brought all the company's affairs back home for Melissa to handle, and Melissa advised on all major company decisions.
After taking over the Jackson Group, Timothy made some achievements in the past two months, which convinced some of the shareholders.
Ashley, seeing her healthy and beautiful daughter, felt she had someone to rely on. Timothy was unreliable, but Melissa was truly smart.
"Melissa, why did you let them in? They must be here to see your dad. If they find out..."
Melissa interrupted Ashley, saying, "Mom, Maggie, and Arya came to visit Dad. It's only natural. How can we turn them away? Mia, please invite them in."
"Yes, Miss." Mia went out to invite them in.
Ashley was puzzled, "Melissa, what do you mean? How can you let that woman in? She doesn't deserve it."
Melissa said, "Mom, calm down. We're all family. If there's any misunderstanding, we can sit down and talk it out."
"You're too kind, and it's easy to suffer for it," Ashley said, but she didn't stop Melissa.
Soon, Maggie and Arya came in with a lawyer.
Melissa quickly greeted them with a smile, "Maggie, Arya, please have a seat. Mia, please make some coffee."
"Yes, Melissa." Mia went to make coffee.
Maggie never liked Melissa calling her sister, and she still didn't. It felt a bit disgusting and fake.
Melissa looked innocent, but she made people uneasy.
In the Jackson family, Ashley was domineering and sharp-tongued, Timothy was impulsive, and Mark was selfish, but these traits were all on the surface. Only Melissa was different. From the first time Maggie met Melissa, she couldn't see through her.
She was as pure and white as a lotus flower, with a beautiful face and a constant smile, looking just like the girl next door.
Ashley felt very uncomfortable seeing Melissa so warmly welcoming Maggie and Arya.
Ashley arrogantly said, "What are you here for? If you say it's to visit Mark, you might as well leave early. Don't dirty my house. How dare a mistress bring her illegitimate daughter here to cause trouble? It's shameless."
Ashley's words were harsh.
Arya was furious, "Ashley, shut up. If I hadn't stepped back back then, you wouldn't even be able to step into the Jackson family's land. Mark had a stroke, and why are you stopping us from seeing him? Do you have something to hide? How did he have a stroke out of nowhere?"
Maggie didn't stop Arya, letting her scold for a while. She put on a worried and helpless expression.
Melissa didn't stop Ashley either; she looked like she wanted to intervene but didn't dare to.
Ashley suddenly stood up, "Why should my husband see you? Who do you think you are? You're shameless, seducing someone else's husband and then brazenly coming to our house."
Arya retorted, "You're the shameless one. Mark wants to divorce you, but you refuse. You even harmed Mark. The most poisonous woman has the most venomous heart."
"Who harmed him? He had a stroke. Arya, don't slander me."
"You know very well how he had a stroke. He was fine, and then he had a heart attack. I saw Mark, and he said it was you who harmed him."
"You're talking nonsense," Ashley cursed in anger. "Let's go confront Mark right now and see how he had a stroke."
Saying this, Ashley dragged Arya upstairs. Arya said, "Let's go. No one is afraid of you."
This tactic worked, and Ashley agreed, taking Arya upstairs. Melissa didn't have time to stop them.
Maggie pretended to be worried, "I'll go check to make sure they don't start fighting."
Melissa also said, "I'll go check too."
