Chapter 518 Great at Solving Cases
Dulce thought Maggie was just messing around. But when Maggie handed her the goods and car keys, asking her to drive back, Dulce realized Maggie was dead serious.
Dulce grabbed Maggie's arm. "Who are you seeing? I haven't seen you in ages, and now I feel like I don't know anything about you. No wonder you look so happy, you must be in love."
Maggie's face turned red. She glanced at the car parked nearby and teased, "He is here."
Dulce took one look and said, "What the hell, going back to your ex? You two are already divorced!"
"Yeah, so we're keeping it on the down-low. Help me take the stuff back and tell my mom I won't be home tonight."
"Arya knows too?" Dulce said, "How come I know nothing about this?"
Maggie laughed, "Well, now you do."
Seeing Maggie so happy, Dulce didn't say much, just remarked, "You're stuck with this guy for life."
Maggie smiled, "I'm okay with that."
Dulce said, "Isabella left too soon. If she saw you two together, she'd be furious."
Maggie made a shushing gesture. "We're not out in the open yet. I'm heading out now."
Dulce waved her off. "Go on, you're putting your relationship above our friendships."
Maggie left, jogging towards Fiorello's car.
Seeing Maggie's joyful steps, Dulce felt a bit like falling in love herself.
Love made a woman young.
Maggie went on her date, and Dulce packed everything into the car, ready to leave, when a familiar voice called out.
"Maggie closed up?"
Dulce turned around and saw Francis in casual clothes. She said, "Francis, you're late. Maggie went on a date."
Francis frowned, "A date?"
Dulce said, "Francis, I can see that you have a thing for Maggie, but you should give up. You're not her type."
With that, Dulce got into the car and tried to start it, but it wouldn't start. The car was broken.
Dulce muttered, "I told Maggie not to buy second-hand. Second-hand stuff is never good. See, it's broken again."
Dulce didn't know much about cars, only that it wouldn't start. She saw Francis hadn't gone far in the rearview mirror and quickly called out, "Francis, can you fix cars? Maggie's car is broken."
Francis stopped, stood still for a few seconds, and then walked back.
"Pop the hood."
Dulce was confused, "Where do I pop the hood?"
Francis glanced at Dulce, who said confidently, "I'm a girl. Girls don't fix cars. Is that strange?"
Francis said, "You can drive."
"I can drive, but that doesn't mean I can fix cars." Dulce asked, "Where's the hood release? You do it."
Francis walked to the driver's side without expression, "Get out of the car."
Dulce got out. As she passed Francis, she smelled his cologne, "Francis, why are you wearing cologne today? And it's Dior's latest women's line, the most affordable one. I'm curious, why did you choose this scent? I've heard it's quite popular in nightclubs. Have you been to one recently?"
Hearing this, Francis suddenly grabbed Dulce's hand, "What did you just say?"
"Francis, what are you doing? Let go, or I'll report you." Dulce was in pain, "I just said you smell like cologne. What's the big deal?"
Francis said, "I don't wear cologne, and I haven't been to a nightclub. I can't smell it. Why can you?"
"I work in the beauty industry. I'm familiar with beauty and fragrance products, and my nose is more sensitive than most."
Francis couldn't hide his excitement, "Are you sure this cologne is used by women in nightclubs?"
Dulce said, "Almost certain. Many of my clients work in nightclubs. They appreciate branded goods but often look for more affordable options, so they buy the least expensive luxury items."
Francis let go of Dulce and immediately made a phone call, "The suspect lied. He went to a nightclub. Follow this lead. He must have had contact with the victim. Test the fluids on the victim to see if they match the suspect."
Dulce stood by, dumbfounded. Was Francis excited because he found a key to solving the case?
He really could link anything to a case.
After the call, Francis excitedly grabbed Dulce's shoulders, "Thank you."
She forced a smile, "You're welcome."
Francis praised, "You're amazing. I have a few more cases. When I need your nose, I'll come to you."
Dulce was silent.
What did he take her for? A police dog?
