Chapter 497 He Has Always Been Silently Protecting
Gregory couldn't really explain it, and Fiorello didn't even bother to care about Gregory's expression. He just lifted his foot and left the club.
What really got under Gregory's skin was Fiorello's attitude. No matter what Gregory did, he couldn't get Fiorello to care even a little bit.
It was like punching a pillow—soft and pointless.
Joseph was arranging for Gregory to return to the Flores family and planning his wedding with Jenny, but Fiorello acted as if Gregory didn't even exist.
To Fiorello, Gregory wasn't even worth considering as an opponent.
This was what frustrated Gregory the most.
The more Fiorello ignored him, the more Gregory wanted to provoke him. But he wasn't dumb enough to let Kevin benefit from it, so he kept putting off the wedding with Jenny.
Perhaps out of comparison, Gregory saw Fiorello marry the woman he loved, which made him even more reluctant to marry the scheming Jenny.
His wife shouldn't be someone like Jenny.
In the parking lot, William asked, "Mr. Flores, are we heading to the Sunset Hills or the Flores Mansion?"
Fiorello walked to the driver's side. "You can clock out early today. Hand me the car keys."
William quickly handed over the keys. Fiorello got in, started the car, and drove off.
He skillfully navigated to a street in a certain district of Cyberland.
Fiorello parked, put on a mask, and walked towards a restaurant. Then he found a coffee shop and bought a cup of flat white.
The first time he had this kind of coffee was when Maggie treated him.
He fell in love with the taste immediately, and maybe, he fell in love with Maggie at first sight too.
Fiorello went up to the second floor of a restaurant and sat by a window.
He came here often, and the staff knew him.
Every time, Fiorello would sit in that spot, buy a cup of coffee, order a two-person serving of fries, and sit there for half an hour, sometimes an hour, without touching the fries or burgers in front of him.
His gaze was always fixed outside the window, at a small stall diagonally opposite the restaurant's entrance, where Maggie and Adalia were setting up their stall.
With her health restored, Maggie went back to her old trade, setting up a stall on the street and doing small business. She faced customers with a beaming smile, full of enthusiasm for life.
Adalia was very sensible, helping with the crafts and greeting customers to attract business.
Cute and pretty Adalia was very likable, and with her helping at the stall, business was always better.
The mother and daughter were the most beautiful on this night market street.
Having once been Fiorello's wife, it was even harder for Maggie to find a job, so she could only set up a stall to make a living.
She didn't feel it was hard; returning to the original track of life made her feel at ease.
Fiorello had promised Joseph not to see Maggie again, so he could only secretly watch them from the shadows.
Maggie had good business today. She counted the money she made and then took out fifty dollars for Adalia. "This is a reward from me. You can buy something you like to eat."
Adalia was very happy. "Thank you, Mom. Mom, I want to eat fries, burgers, and soda. Is that okay?"
Maggie smiled, "The money is yours now. You can spend it as you like, of course."
"Mom, then I'll go buy it." Adalia had been thinking about it for a long time. She hadn't had fries and burgers for a while, and kids couldn't resist these foods.
Maggie knew Adalia liked them, so she rewarded her.
Maggie reminded her, "Be careful, buy it and come back quickly, don't wander around."
Adalia had been to this street many times with Maggie and was familiar with it. Besides, Adalia was older and more sensible now, so Maggie felt more at ease.
"I know, Mom." Adalia happily took the fifty dollars and went to the restaurant across the street to buy fries and burgers.
Sitting by the window, Fiorello watched Adalia run over. Soon, he saw Adalia enter from the staircase entrance.
Fiorello quickly put on his mask. Adalia didn't notice him and happily walked to the counter, sweetly saying, "Hello, I want a serving of fries, two burgers, a soda, and a hot milk."
Adalia placed the money on the counter. The server took the order and said, "Sorry, that's fifty-two dollars in total. You're two dollars short."
Hearing she was two dollars short, Adalia searched her pockets, but they were empty. She didn't have enough money.
Seeing Adalia's helpless and embarrassed look, Fiorello felt very distressed and sad.
