Chapter 682 Becoming the Person You Hate the Most
Fiorello's words were stern; he didn't want such a thing to happen again.
Once was enough to make everyone uncomfortable.
Eleanor was reprimanded by Fiorello, and she didn't look good, feeling upset inside.
After returning home with the two babies, Eleanor forgot about Fiorello's words when she saw the adorable babies. The nanny forgot to sterilize the baby's bottle, and Eleanor discovered it and immediately fired the nanny.
Joseph shook his head and said, "Eleanor, aren't you being too nervous and meticulous? Fiorello and Holden weren't raised with such precision."
Eleanor retorted, "You need to be careful with what goes into a child's mouth. You don't understand."
Joseph glanced at the baby sleeping in the crib and said with a meaningful smile, "Eleanor, the way you are now reminds me of when you just had the kids. Mom was just as nervous about the children."
Joseph's light remark made Eleanor's face turn red with embarrassment, and she had a sudden realization.
She used to hate how Kimberly monopolized the children and was overly meticulous. She couldn't even make decisions for her own kids.
Back then, she and her mother-in-law had many conflicts over the children.
Eleanor had sworn to herself that she would never be a mother-in-law like Kimberly. But when she saw her grandchildren, she couldn't help but want to protect them carefully, wanting to control everything and not trusting others.
Unknowingly, she had become the person she used to dislike.
Seeing Eleanor's unhappy face, Joseph knew she had realized the problem and said, "Maggie hasn't been discharged yet; there's still time to adjust everything."
At the hospital.
The children had been sent away, and Arya and Adalia had also left. Maggie looked at Fiorello and said, "You saw what happened earlier. What are you going to do?"
"I've already talked to my mom. She's just nervous about the kids; it's not a big deal," Fiorello said, trying to appease both sides.
It really wasn't a big deal, just uncomfortable.
Since Fiorello had already talked to Eleanor, Maggie naturally didn't say anything more.
Maggie still needed postpartum care before she could go home.
For the next week, Maggie continued to learn company management from Fiorello. Eleanor brought the babies over again, and they happened to run into Dulce.
The baby had wet itself, and Maggie was changing its clothes. When she took off the clothes, Dulce noticed the baby wasn't wearing a cross and casually asked, "Where's Katie's cross? Arya gave it to her; it used to be around her neck."
Eleanor and Fiorello weren't there, and Nate was crying, so they took Nate outside for a walk.
Nate liked being outside; he would cry if he stayed indoors for too long.
Maggie asked, "When did my mom give it? I've never seen it."
Last time Eleanor brought the baby, she didn't see any cross.
"Before the baby was brought back to the Flores Manor, Arya gave it," Dulce realized. "Eleanor probably took it off. She wasn't happy when Arya gave it and even complained."
Saying it was taken off was putting it mildly; everyone knew it was probably thrown away.
Maggie was instantly unhappy. Her mother had given something to the baby, and even if Eleanor didn't like it or thought it was inappropriate, she had no right to dispose of it.
After a while, Fiorello came back holding Nate, with Eleanor happily following.
Maggie asked, "Mom, where's Katie's cross? I haven't seen it. Did you forget to put it on? My mom said she gave it to the baby."
Maggie didn't directly ask if it was thrown away, deliberately being tactful.
This question made Eleanor awkward, and she uncomfortably lied, "It's at home. It's inconvenient when the baby takes a bath, so I took it off and put it away. Maggie, that cross is tied with a thin string; it could strangle the baby's neck and cut the skin. We'll put it on when the baby is older."
