Chapter 484 Has He Woken Up?
Jenny couldn't shake off the sting of Gregory and Fiorello's insults. As she watched the news, she gently placed a hand on her belly, a fierce determination flashing in her eyes.
"Dad, I'm in," Jenny said through gritted teeth. "I want to be the hostess of the Flores family and crush them all."
"That's the spirit," Kevin replied confidently. "Stay calm. I'll handle Gregory first. He's just an illegitimate child; deep down, he craves the Flores family's approval. He needs this chance."
The news of Fiorello and Maggie's divorce brought joy to Isabella as well.
Olivia was practically bouncing with excitement. "Isabella, did you see the news? Maggie and Fiorello are divorced! This is your chance. Visit the hospital, show Fiorello some concern, and get close to Mrs. Eleanor Flores. She's vulnerable right now and needs comfort."
Olivia's words made it seem like Isabella was already on her way to marrying into the Flores family.
Isabella felt a sweet thrill inside, imagining herself as Fiorello's wife. "Mom, I'm heading out. Fiorello's single now, so I need to deal with James. I'm going to the nursing home."
Isabella couldn't wait to be single again.
She drove straight to the nursing home.
James was bedridden and paralyzed. Neglected, he had developed bedsores and smelled awful. In just six months, he had wasted away to skin and bones, looking terrifying.
As Isabella approached the door, the stench hit her. Covering her nose, she forced herself inside. "James, I'm here."
James glared at her with pure hatred. "You wicked woman, what do you want?"
Isabella had arranged for the staff to neglect James, ensuring he didn't die but suffered.
With her orders, James had no chance of decent care.
He was frequently incontinent, and no one cleaned him up. The stench was unbearable, and he barely ate once every day or two, worse off than a beggar.
Looking at James, Isabella clicked her tongue. "James, if I were you, I'd kill myself and end it. Living like this, you'd be better off dead."
"As long as you're alive, I won't die," James spat with hatred. "I want to see you punished."
"Well, you probably won't see that day." Isabella pulled out a divorce agreement. "I don't have time for you. Just put your fingerprint here, and we're done. I'll have someone send you back to the countryside to your parents."
James was shocked that Isabella was willing to let him go. "What are you up to now?"
"Looking at you makes me sick. You don't deserve to be my husband." Isabella took out an ink pad, grabbed James's hand, and pressed his fingerprint onto the divorce agreement.
Paralyzed, James couldn't resist.
After pressing the fingerprint, Isabella sneered, "This place stinks. I don't want to stay here a second longer. I'll have someone send you away tomorrow."
With that, Isabella turned and left.
James could only grit his teeth in anger. He didn't understand why Isabella suddenly wanted a divorce until he overheard some staff talking about Fiorello and Maggie's divorce. Then it clicked.
James knew Isabella's game. She liked Fiorello, and now that he was single, she couldn't wait to ditch him.
James was furious and determined not to let Isabella off easily.
Three days flew by, and Maggie stayed at the police station, silent and dazed, like she had no soul.
Meanwhile, Fiorello was still unconscious in the hospital. The Flores family was frantic, bringing in doctors from abroad.
The day Maggie walked out of the police station, the sun was shining brightly.
The glaring light made her squint, and she instinctively raised her hand to shield her eyes.
How long had it been since she had seen such a bright day?
"Maggie."
"Maggie."
"Mom."
Waiting at the police station entrance, Dulce, Arya, and Adalia were excited to see Maggie and ran towards her.
Maggie lowered her hand and looked at the three people running towards her.
Seeing them, the first thing Maggie asked was, "Has he woken up?"
