Chapter 123 You Can Give Up Now

Maggie's casual remark was like a dagger to Jenny's heart. Jenny was directly defeated.

Fiorello had been concerned, but seeing Maggie effortlessly handle Jenny's advances, he felt reassured. He thought, 'Maggie has never lost an argument.'

Sure, Jenny might have been a former date, but Maggie was Fiorello's legitimate and legally protected wife. Jenny's expression faltered, realizing she had met her match. She couldn't find words to respond and could only force a smile.

Fiorello explained to Maggie, "Aunt Eleanor used to introduce me to many girls, showing me countless photos, afraid I wouldn't find a wife."

Seeing Fiorello explaining so urgently, Maggie decided not to argue with him anymore and said, "Aunt Eleanor mentioned it to me." Maggie had also been set up on dates, so she didn't bother arguing with Fiorello about it.

They had met through mutual acquaintances. Besides, Maggie was now Fiorello's wife, so there was no point in engaging with Jenny.

Benjamin, half covering his face, gestured to Jenny, thinking, ‘Can't she just eat in peace? If she keeps this up, Fiorello will come after me.’

Jenny sat down, unable to eat anymore. She remained silent, watching Fiorello and Maggie's affectionate display. Maggie had a healthy appetite, and Fiorello attended to her needs, even deboning her fish.

Benjamin said, "This meal is hard to digest. I need a girlfriend to comfort me. Maggie, this is the first time I've seen Fiorello so patient and caring."

Maggie smiled embarrassedly and said, "Really?"

Fiorello peeled a shrimp for Maggie and placed it in her bowl, saying, "Different people receive different treatment from me. My wife deserves special care."

Benjamin raised his thumb and asked, "When’s the wedding?"

Maggie was about to say that they weren't having a wedding, but Fiorello interjected, "We'll send you an invitation. Prepare a wedding gift."

'Is Fiorello planning a wedding?' Maggie had never heard him mention it before. Maybe it was just his way of bantering with friends, so she didn't press further.

Benjamin said, "Of course, I will prepare the wedding gift for you. And I want to be your groomsman."

Fiorello said, "If you want to be my groomsman, you have to wait your turn."

Benjamin widened his eyes. "Isn't it an honor for you to have me to be your groomsman? Why should I wait?"

Fiorello nonchalantly stated, "It's different for me. My groomsmen slots are limited, so you'll have to wait."

Maggie chuckled, and Benjamin relented, "Alright, I'll wait for my turn."

Jenny finally found a topic. "I can be your bridesmaid, Maggie." Maggie was taken aback, thinking, 'I barely know Jenny, let alone the fact that she used to date Fiorello. It wouldn't be appropriate for her to be my bridesmaid.'

Before Maggie could refuse, Fiorello bluntly interjected, "You're not suitable." Jenny blushed furiously at Fiorello's straightforward rejection.

Seeing Jenny's embarrassment, Benjamin said, "Maggie must have already chosen her bridesmaids. Jenny, you're a bit late." This somewhat salvaged Jenny's dignity, and she no longer felt as embarrassed. Jenny laughed awkwardly, "Well, that's a shame."

Fiorello's blunt words surprised Maggie. He was blunt to the point of being hurtful. However, those familiar with Fiorello knew that he would never deliberately care about or respect things or people he didn't care about. For admirers like Jenny, he would simply dismiss them without hesitation.

To prevent Maggie from feeling uncomfortable due to overeating, Fiorello, seeing she had eaten enough, said, "I've got movie tickets. Once you're ready, we can go watch a movie."

Maggie was puzzled, thinking, 'How come I didn't know about this plan?'

Upon hearing they were going to the movies, Benjamin tactfully said, "I won't disturb your date. Maggie, we can exchange contact information. Whenever you're free, you can come here to eat. This restaurant is mine, and you can enjoy it for free."

Upon hearing that the restaurant belonged to Benjamin, Maggie remembered she had just been complaining about it being a profit-making restaurant, feeling embarrassed. Maggie took out her phone and added Benjamin as a WhatsApp friend. Fiorello held Maggie's bag, took her hand, and said to Benjamin, "We should head off."

Fiorello didn't even spare Jenny a glance as they left. Where Maggie was, Fiorello's attention followed. After they left, Benjamin said to Jenny, "You see that? You can give up now."
