Chapter 500 Tit for Tat

Maggie hit send, but then saw that annoying "failed to send" message pop up. They weren't friends anymore. Tears started to fill her eyes.

She knew Fiorello had already kicked her off his friend list. If she didn't know that, she wouldn't have dared to send those messages in the first place.

She kept his WhatsApp contact, though, just for a bit of comfort. It made her feel like he was still around, like she could still talk to him.

Her chat history was full of unsent messages. Whenever she missed him, she'd send another one, even though she knew it wouldn't go through.

Maggie cried quietly for a bit. She didn't want to wake Adalia or let Arya know. She was the only one holding the family together; she couldn't afford to break down.

She pulled herself together, lay down, and hugged Adalia to sleep. That was her happiest, most peaceful moment.

The next morning, Arya made breakfast, came in to get Adalia ready. Maggie rolled over in bed and said, "Mom, I need a bit more sleep."

"Go ahead, sleep in. I'll take Adalia to school," Arya said, wanting Maggie to rest more.

Adalia came over, leaned on the bed, and kissed Maggie's cheek. "Mom, go back to sleep. I'm off to school. Don't work too hard."

"You're my sweet baby," Maggie said, feeling genuinely happy.

Arya took Adalia to eat, and before leaving, she remembered something. "Maggie, it's Olivia's birthday today. She called and wants to have dinner tonight, so no need to set up the stall."

"Got it," Maggie called out.

"Rest up and get a gift for Olivia. I'll head to work after dropping off Adalia."

"Okay," Maggie said, no longer feeling sleepy.

After they left, Maggie got up, washed up, ate breakfast, and started working on her jewelry designs. Even though she wasn't setting up the stall today, she needed to make some pieces to sell tomorrow.

She worked until noon, then went out to buy a birthday gift for Olivia after lunch.

At the cake shop, she unexpectedly ran into Jenny.

Jenny's belly was already showing, and she looked every bit the pregnant woman. She had a craving for sweets and came in to buy some, bumping into Maggie by chance.

Seeing Jenny's belly brought back painful memories for Maggie, reminding her of her miscarried child, making her heart ache.

Jenny was surprised for a moment, then walked over, sticking out her belly. "What a coincidence, running into you here. You've recovered well; your belly is so flat, no extra fat at all. I can't even tell you were ever pregnant. It's really enviable."

Jenny was clearly trying to hit Maggie where it hurt.

Maggie shot back, "I really admire how you manage to stay so open-hearted even though your child's father is often seen with other women. I sometimes read about Gregory spending time at hotels with models or actresses in the news. It must be quite a unique situation for you, not having to take care of Gregory as there seem to be others willing to do that."

Jenny had originally planned to trap Fiorello but ended up with Gregory by mistake.

Maggie's words made Jenny furious. "Maggie, you murderer, what are you so arrogant about? I told you before, you don't have the luck to be the Flores family's hostess. Everything has come true. Things that don't belong to you will be lost even if you get them."

Maggie sneered. "That's still better than someone who never got anything. At least I had Fiorello and was once his wife. Unlike some people who schemed and got nothing, ending up marrying a bastard. Pathetic and sad. By the way, have you dreamed of Mrs. Flores recently?"
