Chapter 326 Jenny Returns
Fiorello immediately got frustrated and slumped onto the sofa.
"Blacklist Isabella from now on," he said with a dissatisfied voice.
Just when they were about to kiss, an abrupt interruption would leave any man feeling a bit irritable.
Maggie laughed, reaching out to touch Fiorello's face.
"You still have energy left after coming back from London to Cyberland. All you think about is that thing. Get out. I need to take this call," she said, feigning anger.
Fiorello only grumbled but obediently left the room.
Maggie answered the phone. "Isabella, what's up?"
As soon as she spoke, Isabella began to cry on the other end. "Maggie, James is such a jerk. I've tried everything, even tried to get the goods on him at work, but nothing works. He went to my parents' house and argued with them. I'm too scared to go home now. Can I come to your place?"
"But I'm not home," Maggie said, feeling a bit troubled. "How about this, Isabella, you find a hotel to stay at for now?"
"You're not home? My mom told me you and Arya had already returned from London," Isabella said, having called Maggie based on that information.
"We did come back, but we're staying at Fiorello's place, not at Cityhomes West," Maggie explained, "It's a bit complicated. Why don't you go to a hotel?"
"Alright then," Isabella complained over the phone, "Maggie, after my fight with James, I've lost all my friends. You're the only one I can vent to. You won't find me annoying, will you?"
"No, I won't," Maggie said, even though she did find it a bit bothersome. But she couldn't say that out loud.
Isabella was in a fragile state, and even an unintentional word or action could hurt her.
Laura was the best example of this.
After Laura jumped to her death, Mario and Linda stirred up public opinion to demand compensation from Happy Pub. They held banners at the club's entrance, with Linda holding Laura's portrait and placing numerous wreaths.
Laura's parents played the victim online, accusing Happy Pub. To keep the peace, Happy Pub chose to compromise, eventually paying 200,000 dollars in compensation.
Maggie had seen the trending news and was furious, but she felt she couldn't do anything for now.
She could only watch as Mario and Linda squeezed the last bit of value out of Laura, taking the compensation back to their hometown.
When one's power was insignificant, he could only watch the tragedies aside and do nothing.
Isabella said, "Maggie, tomorrow is my birthday. Can you come and celebrate with me?"
Since Isabella had asked the question, Maggie couldn't refuse.
"Alright, tomorrow night? I have to go to the office during the day."
"Yes, tomorrow night. See you then," Isabella said, "I won't disturb you and Fiorello anymore. I'll send you the address for the reservation."
"Okay."
The next day.
Arya was not accustomed to such a luxurious lifestyle and felt uneasy. Early in the morning, she found an excuse to return to her rented apartment.
She hadn't been back in a long time and needed to check on it and clean up.
Her leg had healed, and she didn't want to live with Maggie and Fiorello any longer.
However, considering that Adalia needed someone to take her to and from school, she continued to stay at Cityhomes West.
Fiorello and Maggie took Adalia to school together and then went to their respective offices.
Maggie had just sat down to rest and take a sip of coffee when Angela knocked and entered. "A major client specifically requested you to design a piece of jewelry."
"Which major client?" Maggie put down her coffee.
Angela replied, "The heiress of the Holmes Group, Jenny."
Hearing the name, Maggie didn't want to deal with her.
But before she could ask someone to send Jenny away, Jenny had already barged in.
Jenny walked in arrogantly. "Maggie, design a piece of jewelry for me. Money is not a big deal as long as I'm satisfied."
Maggie signaled Angela to leave, indicating she could handle it herself.
Angela looked at Maggie with some concern. Maggie nodded at her. "It's fine. You can go take care of other things. Please close the door."
"Alright." Angela closed the door and left.
Jenny sat down, glaring coldly at Maggie. "I want a piece of jewelry for my wedding."
"Ms. Holmes, I won't take your business," Maggie said, unwilling to do something thankless. "Go to someone else."
"Maggie, I'm now a customer of AL Jewelry. There's no reason to turn away a customer." Jenny sneered. "You think you can act high and mighty just because Fiorello supports you. You're nothing but his mistress. He has someone else in mind."
