Chapter 441 The Invisible Opponent
Ariel's eyes were all teary and scared.
As a mom, her kids were always on her mind.
From the moment women became moms, most of them lived for their kids, and she was no exception.
Arya got it and grabbed Ariel's hand, asking, "How old's your daughter?"
Ariel replied, "Twenty-two. Just graduated, got a job, and a boyfriend. They're planning to tie the knot."
"That's good. She's grown now; you gotta start thinking about yourself," Arya said seriously, "Actually, Maggie asked me to talk to you. She knows your husband's been treating you like crap and feels for you. Maggie's got a soft heart, don't let her tough act fool you. She can't stand seeing people suffer. If you need, Maggie will help you get a lawyer."
"It's Maggie..." Feeling super guilty, Ariel had wanted to hurt Maggie's kid, yet Maggie was thinking of helping her get out of her crappy marriage.
Arya said, "If you need any help, just holler. There's nothing you can't get through."
"Thanks." Ariel looked down. "If I need anything, I'll ask Maggie. Arya, I'm feeling kinda sleepy."
Arya said, "Alright, then you should hit the sack early. I need to rest too; gotta take Adalia to school in the morning."
Ariel went back to the nanny's room, pulled out the abortion pills from under her pillow, thought about Arya's words, and Maggie's concern for her. She just couldn't do it and tossed the pills in the trash.
Ariel called Kimberly. "Mrs. Kimberly Flores, I'm really sorry, but I can't do what you asked."
Ariel, who had never done anything against her conscience, couldn't go through with it.
After hanging up, Kimberly was fuming and cursed, "You're so ungrateful. I was so good to you back then. Jason, go find Ariel's husband."
The driver, Jason Cooper, responded, "Yes, Mrs. Kimberly Flores."
Jason had always been with Kimberly, taking care of her and driving for her, so he naturally followed her orders without question.
At Sunset Hills, Maggie couldn't sleep. She felt super anxious and was waiting for news from Fiorello.
It was already super late. She glanced at the sleeping Adalia beside her, feeling a bit more at ease.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a message.
Fiorello: [Things are almost settled. Don't worry, get some rest.]
Maggie: [Take care of yourself too.]
Fiorello was crazy busy. After seeing Maggie's reply, he didn't text back.
He said things were almost settled just to calm Maggie down.
After getting there, Fiorello realized things were way worse than he thought.
The victims' families had already come to the factory to cause trouble. The fire had burned for hours before being put out. Firefighters were still there, worried about any leftover embers.
Fiorello stood in front of the ruins, the air filled with the smell of burning and the cries of the families.
Fiorello's face was grim. William walked over quickly and said, "Mr. Flores, the arsonist's been caught and confessed. He said he was under a lot of stress and had a fight with a coworker, which led him to do something so extreme."
Fiorello stayed stone-faced. Holden was pissed when he heard this. "Just 'cause of his own stress, he did something so messed up and killed several people? Damn it!"
William said, "In recent years, this isn't the first time something like this has happened. These people feel psychologically unbalanced and develop a mindset of revenge against society. Just a week before the fire, this arsonist was diagnosed with cancer by the hospital and was told he had at most three months to live."
Fiorello's brow furrowed instantly. "Looks like the other side set a trap long ago."
Holden was puzzled. "Fiorello, who's secretly sabotaging Visionary Futures?"
