Chapter 538 Have You Fallen in Love with Me?
After Jenny was sent to the hospital, she underwent measures to protect her child.
The doctor said that in Jenny's condition, she must be hospitalized to protect the pregnancy.
The law was strict, but it was also merciful.
An unborn child was innocent and could not be deprived of the right to be born.
Francis was in charge of this case. He brought his team to the hospital and stood at the window of the ward, glancing at Jenny, who was handcuffed to the bed.
Jenny's belly was very large, and it was most noticeable when she lay on her side.
"You two keep watch here all day. Don't let her out of your sight. Tomorrow, find two more people to take over your shift," Francis instructed, "Should anything go wrong, you may well have to relinquish your uniforms."
"Don't worry, Francis. We won't even blink. We'll keep a close eye on her."
"Alright, I'm off. I have been busy a long day." Francis said casually as he left.
Dulce was still waiting in the car at the entrance. She wanted to go into the hospital to see how Jenny was doing, but Francis wouldn't let her.
Dulce stayed in the car and called Maggie to tell her what was happening.
Maggie had already received news that Jenny was in the hospital to protect her pregnancy. The police had also notified Fiorello.
Both of them agreed to follow police procedures. Having lost a child themselves, they naturally wouldn't just stand by and watch something happen to the baby Jenny was carrying.
Maggie was clear about her grudges. She wasn't a saint, but she also wouldn't become someone like Jenny, who would stop at nothing to achieve her goals.
Maggie had a daughter, and she wanted to accumulate good karma for her. She believed in punishment and that one should not harm others but also be cautious of others.
On the phone, Dulce said, "Jenny is too cunning. She's using the baby as a bargaining chip to save her life. She definitely won't give up easily. I'm just afraid something unexpected will happen."
Maggie was also worried, but worrying was useless.
"She's six months pregnant now. At most, we'll give her three more months. Let her hang on for a while. Besides the police, Fiorello has also sent people to keep an eye on her."
Hearing this, Dulce felt much more at ease. She saw Francis coming out of the hospital and said, "Maggie, I have to go. Francis is here."
"You two are still together?" Maggie was a bit surprised. She thought, 'It is quite late, and they had been together all day?'
"Well, Francis is really good at using people. I've become his personal police dog," Dulce said excitedly. "But solving cases is really interesting and thrilling. Those cases are so twisted and bizarre. People who seem good might turn out to be serial killers."
Dulce was someone who loved adventure and excitement. She wasn't just afraid of Francis dragging her to listen to lectures; she genuinely had nothing much to do every day. She didn't need to supervise her beauty salon, and encountering strange and exciting things every day was thrilling.
Maggie laughed. "Just be careful. I'm having dinner with Adalia and Fiorello, so I won't keep you."
"Alright, you three enjoy your meal. I need to get Francis to treat me to dinner. I've done so much work for him; he owes me a good meal," Dulce said, feeling particularly happy now that Maggie had been cleared of the murder charges.
Francis opened the driver's side door. "Talking to Maggie?"
"Yeah, Maggie is having dinner with Mr. Flores and Adalia," Dulce said. "Now that the truth is out, Maggie and Fiorello can finally have some peace. Today is a good day. Francis, I'm hungry. Treat me to dinner. I've done so much work for you."
"I can invite you to my place for dinner," Francis said as he started the car.
With that, she thought about it being late at night, Francis inviting her, a single woman to his place for dinner. Could it really be?
Dulce was a straightforward person and asked, "Francis, have you fallen for me?"
This question stunned Francis for a moment. He hit the brakes, and the car came to a stop.
