Chapter 384 The Wild Child

Susan suddenly seized Emily's arms, her grip iron-tight as she demanded, "Is your mom named Maggie?"

Emily, nearly paralyzed with fear, turned a ghostly shade of pale. "Let go of me, you lunatic!" she cried, struggling in Susan's grasp.

Susan, with bloodshot eyes, said, "I know where your mom is. I'll take you to her."

Emily calmed down, forgetting her fear. "You know my mom?" she asked excitedly.

Susan gritted her teeth. "I could recognize her even with a paper bag on her head."

Emily, with an imperious attitude, commanded, "Then take me to her now. My mom's beautiful and rich. She'll give you money if you bring me back."

Meanwhile, Maggie had just put Adalia to sleep and heard some noise outside. She carefully tucked Adalia in and got up to check.

She walked to the living room and heard a knock at the door. Maggie opened it to find Fiorello.

"Back so early? Forgot your key?" Maggie asked.

"Yeah, forgot it," Fiorello said, entering and closing the door. "I rushed back as soon as work finished. How was today? How much did you eat for dinner?"

"Not much, just half a plate and some fruit," Maggie smiled. "I'm eating small, frequent meals, not overeating."

"Next Wednesday is the prenatal checkup. I've cleared my schedule for that morning. We'll go together," Fiorello said, holding Maggie's hand. "Your health is the most important."

"If you're busy, Mom can go with me. I don't want you to be too tired," Maggie said. "I'm not that delicate."

"I must attend all your prenatal checkups, no exceptions," Fiorello smiled, taking off his coat. "You women hold grudges easily, especially about pregnancy. You can remember it for a lifetime, so I have to do well."

Maggie laughed. "It's not that exaggerated."

Seeing him change his shoes, Maggie sat down and hesitated. "Fiorello, there's something I want to tell you."

"What is it? Go ahead," Fiorello asked casually.

"That child might have been found," Maggie said carefully. "The dean called me. I went to see the child and did a paternity test. Now we're just waiting for the results."

Fiorello listened attentively. After a moment, he said, "We'll move to Sunset Hills the day after tomorrow. The house is big enough. If the test results are positive, you can bring the child here."

He wasn't being generous; he just didn't want Maggie to feel troubled. He liked Maggie and, by extension, her child.

Maggie was touched. "Fiorello, I'm sorry. I owe you so much."

Fiorello was about to speak when there was a knock on the door. 'Who could be knocking so late?'

They exchanged a glance, and Fiorello got up to open the door, finding a little girl with a backpack.

Fiorello's expression turned cold. "Little girl, who are you looking for?"

The little girl was Emily. Susan had brought her to Maggie's house and was hiding nearby, watching.

Emily looked up. "My name is Emily. I'm looking for my mom. This is my mom's house."

Inside, Maggie heard the voice and was stunned. She walked out in disbelief.

When Maggie saw Emily, she was shocked. "How did you find this place?"

Seeing Maggie, Emily smiled and tried to throw herself into Maggie's arms. "Mom, I finally found you."

Fiorello, afraid she might hurt the baby in Maggie's belly, instinctively pulled Emily away.

Emily, being pulled away, glared at Fiorello with hostility. "Who are you? Let go of me."
