Chapter 298 Wanting to Punch Him
It was the first time Fiorello had spoken so much in front of Maggie.
Every word he uttered was filled with tension, carefully measured to avoid saying too much or displeasing her.
Maggie listened to his explanation.
Reflecting on the events of the past few months, she felt she had been truly foolish, too trusting of Fiorello.
She had believed everything he said, never doubting him.
Thinking back to when she first started living with Fiorello on an equal financial footing, she found it quite amusing.
She had been sharing expenses with a billionaire. It would be a joke if it got out.
Maggie lowered her eyes and laughed self-deprecatingly. "These past few months, you must have had a hard time pretending. You, who are used to living in a mansion, must have found it uncomfortable living in a three-bedroom apartment with me. And gourmet food must have been torturous compared to cold radish oatmeal every morning. Driving a twenty-thousand-dollar Chevrolet must have been quite the adjustment for someone used to luxury cars..."
"Maggie," Fiorello gently interrupted her, gripping her shoulders tightly, and said with deep emotion, "With you, it doesn't matter where we live, what we eat, or what car we drive. If you don't like this mansion, we can continue living in the Cityhomes West apartment."
She pulled at the corners of her mouth, meeting his sincere eyes, and asked, "Fiorello, what was your initial intention in deceiving me?"
Fiorello's eyes flickered, and for a moment, he didn't dare to answer.
"Then let me say it for you," Maggie said, "You didn't trust me."
Fiorello had nothing to say; indeed, he didn't trust her, which was why he pretended to be poor to test her.
Fiorello nodded, and at that moment, Maggie became furious and turned to walk downstairs.
"Honey."
Fiorello was a step ahead of her, closing the door to the room and wrapping his arms around her waist. "I was wrong."
He admitted his mistake quickly.
Maggie said angrily, "You weren't wrong. I was the one who trusted the wrong person."
Having been deceived for so long, Maggie was very angry.
"This is all my fault," Fiorello said, holding onto Maggie and not letting go, his face rubbing against her neck.
Maggie said angrily, "Fiorello, do you have any shame?"
"I have no shame in front of you," Fiorello said, kissing her cheek. "As long as you can calm down, I'll do anything."
Maggie laughed in anger, but it was a cold laugh. "Kneel on the keyboard, durian shells, and washboard."
She said this deliberately to mock Fiorello. The idea of the billionaire owner of the Visionary Futures Group kneeling on durian shells would be laughable if it got out.
But Fiorello took it seriously. He immediately called Brian downstairs, "Prepare durian shells, a washboard, and a keyboard within three minutes and bring them up."
Maggie was dumbfounded.
'Fiorello really has no shame.'
Brian downstairs was also stunned. Holden asked, "Brian, what did Fiorello say?"
Brian replied, "The boss wants durian shells, a washboard, and a keyboard. What does he need these for in the middle of the night?"
Hearing this, Holden couldn't help but laugh and urged, "Brian, hurry up and prepare them. There's going to be something interesting tonight."
Holden was delighted at the thought. The fearsome Fiorello in the business world was going to kneel on a washboard and durian shells to appease his wife.
Three minutes later.
In the master bedroom.
Brian brought the items and then closed the door.
Maggie glanced at these items, then looked at Fiorello. "Are you really going to kneel?"
Fiorello looked aggrieved. "If my wife doesn't forgive me, then I have no choice but to kneel."
This time, he was truly determined. He had to resolve Maggie's grievances tonight, or he might lose her.
Matters between the couple must be resolved on the same day; one should never let the wife go to bed angry.
Seeing Maggie's reluctance, Fiorello seized the opportunity and said, "Honey, for the sake of my sincerity towards you, can you forgive me for this? I promise I won't deceive you again."
Maggie sneered coldly. "Be honest. What else are you hiding from me? Tell me everything at once."
Fiorello confessed sincerely, "Holden is my biological brother."
Maggie's gaze deepened when she heard that and said, "Continue."
Fiorello glanced at Maggie's expression and continued, "Aunt is my biological mother, your mother-in-law. Uncle is my biological father, your father-in-law."
Maggie said, "Fiorello, I really want to punch you. Your whole family conspired to deceive me."
