Chapter 270 Persuasion

Mark wasn’t approaching Arya for any good reason.

Ashley insisted that Arya and Maggie must be tricked into going to London as soon as possible.

Mark took Arya and Adalia to a KFC, ordered a family bucket for Adalia, and attentively poured a cup of hot milk and a meal set for Arya.

Arya sneezed, and Mark immediately took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders.

"Arya, the weather is getting colder in Cyberland. Take care of yourself and wear more clothes next time you go out,” Mark said.

Mark's actions were truly touching.

Despite being in his fifties, he was well-maintained, dressed formally, and exuded a strong masculine charm. Wearing a twenty-thousand-dollar watch and branded clothes, his demeanor was extraordinary.

Arya felt a bit embarrassed. "Thank you."

Mark smiled and said, "No need to be so polite with me."

Then, Mark turned to Adalia and said, "Eat as much as you want, Adalia. If it’s not enough, I’ll get more."

Adalia, not particularly fond of Mark, kept her guard up. Children are sensitive to insincerity. She ate her fries quietly without saying much.

Mark continued his charm offensive on Arya: "Arya, my winery hasn’t been doing well lately, and it’s been stressful. I can’t stay in Cyberland for long and will return to London in a couple of days. Have you and Maggie considered coming with me?"

"Well," Arya said, "Maggie isn't home. I haven't talked to her about this yet."

"You should discuss it with Maggie soon. You know how important bloodline is to the Jackson family. I’ve already said we want to acknowledge Maggie," Mark said. "We’ve even set a date, next month on the 3rd."

Seeing how much Mark valued Maggie, Arya felt very comforted.

Arya said, "I'll talk to Maggie when she gets back tomorrow."

"Back tomorrow? Where did Maggie go?"

"Maggie went on a business trip to Sunshine Bay City with Fiorello," Arya smiled and said, "Maggie and Fiorello have a good relationship. They even go on business trips together."

Mark took the opportunity to ask, "What does Fiorello do?"

"Maggie said he’s a programmer," Arya answered. "I don’t understand much about it, but Fiorello is very hardworking and a good person. He’s had a tough life; his parents passed away, and he’s the only one left."

Hearing that Maggie's husband came from such a background, Mark felt relieved.

A young man with no parents and no significant background posed no threat, even if he caused Maggie harm.

Mark, keeping a calm exterior, said, "Fiorello is so capable. As his father-in-law, I should help him out. There are many IT companies in London, and I know a lot of bosses. I can easily get him a better job with an annual salary of 2 million dollars. If Fiorello is willing to help out at my winery, that would be even better."

Arya was delighted to see Mark willing to help Fiorello. "What about Ashley? Does she have any objections?"

"I'm the head of the household now. This is my way of making it up to you. Ashley wouldn't dare say anything." Mark lied through his teeth. "Indeed, you are my wife. If it weren't for Ashley's interference and the family's opposition back then, we would have been together long ago."

Mark's tone was filled with regret.

Helping people recover from past pains or troubles, Arya was completely fooled by Mark's deep affection.

Arya believed that a person's nature was hard to change.

Mark seized the opportunity and said, "Arya, come back to London with me first."

Once Arya was in London, Maggie would have to follow.

"Well..." Arya hesitated. "I need to discuss this with Maggie."

"Don't you want to see me every day?" Mark held Arya's hand. "We're already at this age, and we don't have many years left. You've sacrificed so much for Maggie. It's time you lived for yourself. Come back to London with me. Maggie will understand us once she thinks it through."
