Chapter 361 Working Together to Protect the Pregnancy

Seeing Maggie's joyful smile, Fiorello couldn't bring himself to break the bad news.

He sat by the bed, placing his hand on Maggie's belly. The thought of a baby growing there made him feel tender.

Neither of them had expected this surprise.

Holding Fiorello's hand, Maggie asked softly, "Why do you look unhappy? What's wrong?"

She sensed something was off with Fiorello.

"No, I'm very happy," Fiorello forced a smile. "You're going to be a mom too."

Maggie looked at him and said gently, "Don't lie to me. Did the doctor say my body can't handle the pregnancy? Did they ask you to choose between keeping or terminating it?"

Maggie knew her health wasn't great and the signs of a threatened miscarriage made things worse.

Fiorello suddenly hugged her, his voice hoarse. "Maggie, it doesn't matter if we don't have the baby. I just need you."

He had made up his mind.

Maggie didn't blame him. She knew it was a tough decision.

She wrapped her arms around his waist and said, "Honey, the baby chose us. Let's work together to ensure a safe delivery. I'll follow the doctor's advice. Let's not give up yet. Can we try?"

By the end, Maggie's voice was choked with emotion. She couldn't bear to give up on the baby she had longed for.

Fiorello's eyes reddened too. He couldn't bear to see Maggie suffer but also couldn't refuse her.

He knew how much she wanted this baby.

He wanted it too.

This was his first child.

Maybe the only child he'd ever have.

No father wanted to lose his child.

Fiorello couldn't decide. Maggie cupped his face and smiled. "Honey, smile. We're going to be parents. This is a happy occasion. Babies are smart. If they know we don't welcome them, they'll be upset. The fact that we saved the baby means it's meant to be. Trust me, I'll be fine."

"Silly girl." Fiorello wiped away her tears, looking at her belly. "Okay."

Seeing him agree, Maggie smiled and rubbed her face against his palm.

He understood her. Even if it meant risking her life, she wanted this baby.

He couldn't force her to terminate the pregnancy. That would break her heart.

"Lie down and rest. I'll call Mom to pick up Adalia. You need to stay in the hospital for observation. Don't worry about anything. Leave it to me," Fiorello instructed. "Keep up with nutrition, but don't overeat. We have to control the baby's weight."

Maggie smiled. "Okay, I'll listen to you."

Fiorello walked out to make a call when he saw Kimberly coming in.

Kimberly approached him, asking, "What's wrong with Maggie? She must be faking it. I told you, Maggie is scheming and not as pure as Jenny. And she can't even have a baby."

Kimberly's words made Fiorello's face darken. "Grandma, show some respect to Maggie. Also, Maggie is pregnant. Her body is weak and can't handle stress. If you want a great-grandchild, watch your words."

"Maggie is pregnant?" Kimberly didn't believe it. "Didn't you say she was infertile? Fiorello, are you two trying to trick me?"
