Chapter 449 Bringing Death to the Whole Family
Fiorello's hands were shaking like crazy, and he could barely keep himself upright by leaning on the mortuary table. He reached out to touch his and Maggie's baby, and as his hand brushed the cold body, a tear splashed onto the tiny corpse.
Trying to hold back his sobs, Fiorello thought about the times when the baby was kicking around in Maggie's belly, how he had felt the little foot and sensed its life. Now, staring at the cold body in front of him, he couldn't hold back anymore and cried out, his voice raw. "Baby, Daddy's so sorry. Daddy didn't protect you and Mommy."
Fiorello's pain was just as deep as Maggie's. Even Joseph, who had followed him, had red eyes from seeing the scene.
Eleanor and Joseph had been at the hospital the whole time. When they heard Fiorello had gone to the morgue to see the baby, Joseph followed. Hearing his son's muffled sobs, Joseph totally got his pain.
No dad could handle a hit like this.
Joseph stood at the morgue door, his eyes wet. He turned away and wiped his tears.
It was a boy, their first grandson. The whole family had been so excited for Maggie's baby, but it ended like this.
Fiorello's hands shook as he held the baby's body, trying to warm it with his own body heat.
He had imagined so many ways his first meeting with the baby would go, but never this. He was faced with a tiny corpse.
If he couldn't handle this pain, how could Maggie?
Fiorello stayed in the morgue for a long time, saying a bunch of self-blaming stuff to the baby.
Eleanor, outside the morgue, didn't have the guts to look at the baby's body.
Eleanor and Joseph were worried Fiorello might break down from this blow. After staying in the morgue for more than half an hour, Fiorello walked out in a daze and said to Joseph and Eleanor, "Dad, Mom, please help me find a good place to bury the baby."
Eleanor wiped her tears and said, "Don't worry, I'll take care of it."
As she spoke, Eleanor's voice was choked with emotion.
This whole thing was a huge pain for the Flores family.
But it wasn't a pain for Kimberly. When she heard about Maggie's miscarriage, she was actually pretty happy.
Right now, Kimberly, pretending she had just come back from the countryside, had already arrived back at the Flores Mansion.
Now that she had gotten rid of the baby in Maggie's belly, Kimberly's next move was to kick Maggie out of the Flores family.
Without the leverage of a child, she wanted to see how Maggie could still act all high and mighty.
Maggie's miscarriage brought joy not only to Kimberly but also to Jenny at the Holmes family villa, who laughed her head off.
Laughing, Jenny cursed Kimberly for being dumb, "She's so stupid, getting rid of her own great-grandson. It makes me so happy."
Kevin came back from outside and, hearing Jenny's laughter, casually asked, "Jenny, what's got you so happy?"
"Dad, there's some really good news." Jenny laughed as she took Kevin's arm, unable to contain her joy. "Maggie had a miscarriage."
"The woman Fiorello married?" Kevin frowned. "How did she miscarry out of the blue?"
Jenny laughed and said, "It was Mrs. Kimberly Flores. She had someone give Maggie an abortion drug and personally got rid of the baby."
Hearing this, Kevin was shocked. "Why would Mrs. Kimberly Flores do that? That was her own great-grandson. Why would she give her an abortion drug?"
Kevin was both shocked and puzzled.
Jenny sat down on the couch with a smug look and said, "Of course, it's because of me. Mrs. Kimberly Flores was never satisfied with Maggie, so I stirred the pot a bit, making her think Maggie was carrying someone else's child. Naturally, Mrs. Kimberly Flores would go to great lengths to get rid of the baby. She couldn't allow Maggie to give birth to another man's child in the Flores family."
"You did this?" Kevin was startled, raising his voice. "Jenny, are you trying to get our Holmes family killed? Last time, you messed with Maggie's car, and I had to fix it for you by finding someone else to take the blame. Now you want to get our whole family killed again?"
