Chapter 693 Expanding Business
A baby shower was such a big event, Fiorello and Maggie would definitely invite Francis.
After Francis and Dulce broke up, they hadn't been in touch, but Francis had been following Dulce on Instagram and knew about her recent activities.
When Francis and Dulce's eyes met, they both felt awkward, wanting to see each other but not daring to, wanting to get close but not daring to.
"Maggie, this is a gift I brought for the baby. Please accept it." Francis took out the prepared gift and handed it to Maggie. "I have a mission later, so I can't stay long."
"Thank you." Maggie accepted it with a smile and said, "Well, stay as long as you can. I'll go get the baby for you to see. You two chat for a bit."
Maggie deliberately found an excuse to leave, creating an opportunity for the two of them.
After Maggie left, Francis sat on the sofa opposite Dulce, hesitating before asking, "How have you been lately?"
"Pretty good." Dulce tucked her hair behind her ear, forcing a smile. "How about you? How are things with Wendy? When's the wedding?"
"There's been a lot going on at the office lately, so I've been pretty busy." Francis dodged the topic of Wendy.
"Oh." Dulce responded, not knowing what to say next. She waved for a waiter to bring a glass of red wine and then asked Francis, "You have something later, so you probably won't drink. How about some juice?"
"Sure."
As they chatted, Maggie watched from a distance, anxious that there was no substantial progress between them.
"Maggie, what are you looking at?" Fiorello suddenly appeared behind Maggie.
Maggie was startled, turned around, and glared at Fiorello. She wanted to scold him but held back when she saw his handsome face.
"Indeed, having a handsome husband means that when you're angry, just looking at his face makes the anger disappear."
Fiorello smiled and touched his face. "Well, thanks to this face, I dodged another bullet."
"Narcissist." Maggie said, half-laughing, half-crying. "Where did your mom take the baby? I haven't seen them for a while."
Fiorello said, "She's showing off to her group of old friends. She used to envy others for having grandchildren, but now that she has one, she's definitely going to show off."
Maggie glanced around the banquet hall and saw Melissa chatting and laughing with the boss of an electronics company.
Maggie said, "Melissa never misses an opportunity to expand her business."
From the moment they arrived, Maggie had seen Melissa chatting with several executives.
Fiorello agreed, "I overheard earlier that Charles Long from the electronics company has already reached a verbal agreement with Melissa to help with live-streaming sales."
Any form of gathering within the circle will inevitably become a place for business talks, networking, and information exchange.
These people came to the baby shower because of Fiorello's background and status in the circle.
Building a good relationship with the Flores family would provide a lot of resources and information.
Maggie pouted, "I instantly regret inviting her."
The baby's shower had turned into a networking event for Melissa.
When introducing herself, Melissa didn't say she was Maggie's sister but rather the heiress of the Jackson Group.
Melissa had already built a good relationship with Eleanor, and with Eleanor's help, it would be easier for Melissa to secure collaborations.
Melissa was methodical and would surely make a lot of money.
That's also why she came to the baby shower; otherwise, she wouldn't have come with Mark.
Fiorello laughed, "The Jackson Group is now focused on social media, which has low costs and high profits, but they need more connections and resources. I knew what Melissa was up to the moment she arrived yesterday."
Maggie glared at him, "So what if you knew? She still used us."
Fiorello smirked and said, "Maggie, do you really think business deals can be made here? Melissa's social skills are indeed strong, but today she's facing big corporations. Everyone plays it safe; without absolute certainty, they won't really collaborate. Especially some established brands, they think live-streaming sales lower their status and look down on it."
