Chapter 198 Caught Saying Bad Things

Fiorello's face leaned in, and Maggie knew what Fiorello was thinking.
Maggie deliberately turned her face to the other side, holding back a smile. "I haven't decided yet. I'll let you know when I do."
"Well, then I'll take the initiative..." Fiorello was about to kiss her, but Maggie laughed and dodged. "No kissing."
As they were playing around, a knock on the door sounded.
The police were here again. Seeing the investigating officer, Maggie asked seriously, "Sir, have you found out who wanted to harm me?"
The police glanced at Fiorello before saying, "After the investigation, we have found the culprit."
Maggie inquired, "Who?"
"Betty Anderson from the AL Jewelry Design Department," the police said. "Betty has confessed. It was out of jealousy that she committed the crime."
"How could it be Betty?"
Maggie was surprised. Betty had been in the design department for five years and was considered an experienced employee. She usually kept a low profile at the company, not drawing attention to herself.
Fiorello asked, "With the motive established, what about the time of the crime? During your initial investigation, all the employees in the design department were checked, and none were present at the time of the crime."
"Betty confessed that she heard Mrs. Flores was going to the Enchanted Mountain, so she had her boyfriend, Rex Ingram, who works at the Enchanted Manor, do it. Both Rex and Betty have been arrested and admitted to the crime."
Another officer added, "We verified their statements, and everything they said was true. Betty was envious of Mrs. Flores being promoted to chief designer, feeling unfair, which led to her impulsive act."
As the investigation reached this point, Maggie was amazed.
Maggie never expected such a turn of events.
Fiorello reviewed Betty and Rex's testimonies, which matched the details of Maggie's accident.
With the motive, time of the crime, and evidence all in place, the case could be closed.
Fiorello furrowed his brow; everything seemed fine on the surface, but something felt off.
To avoid worrying Maggie, Fiorello didn't say much.
With the culprit behind Maggie's accident identified Selena was naturally released without guilt.
When Selena walked out of the detention center, her face was pale, devoid of her usual arrogance.
Initially, when Selena went to the underground parking lot, she also harbored thoughts of harming Maggie, but she didn't get the chance to act on them.
Later, upon hearing about Maggie's accident, Selena was secretly pleased for a long time.
Now that the truth was revealed, Selena was somewhat afraid.
Selena had asked the police, and Betty, who harmed Maggie due to the severity and malice of the case, would be sentenced to at least twenty years.
Thinking about this, Selena felt a shiver down her spine. If she had indeed acted as planned, she would be the one in prison now.
The news of Betty orchestrating the accident quickly spread throughout the AL Jewelry Design Department.
Emily went to the hospital to visit Maggie. She said angrily, "Look at Betty, usually quiet at the company, but so malicious inside, just for a position, she wanted to kill you."
Maggie replied, "After Selena left the company, based on qualifications and experience, Betty was the most qualified to be promoted to chief designer. Perhaps that's why she felt jealous."
"But that doesn't justify harming you. Harm set, harm get." Emily remarked, "If Betty truly had the ability, she would have been promoted long ago. Her design skills are average, and her relationships with colleagues are average as well. It's not Betty's turn for a promotion."
Maggie asked, "How is the company now?"
"With Angela around, nothing unusual has happened, and at a time like this, no one would stir up trouble. Jones has been irritable lately. If someone slacks off at work, they might be in for it directly from Jones," Emily explained.
Curious, Maggie asked, "Why is Mr. Bary so irritable?"
"It's because..." Emily almost spilled the beans but then changed her tune, "It's probably early menopause. He's in his thirties, no girlfriend, disharmonious sex life, so he's easily irritable."
In reality, with Maggie injured in the accident, Jones also bore some responsibility, leading Fiorello to direct half of his anger towards Jones.
Jones was in a tough spot.
If Maggie didn't wake up, given Fiorello's temper, Jones might be fired by Fiorello.
Emily's words amused Maggie, and she burst out laughing. Just as Maggie was about to speak, she saw Fiorello and Jones standing at the door, prompting her to wink at Emily.
Emily needed to catch on. "Maggie, what's wrong with your eyes? Also, during the time you were unconscious, Jones was irritable, and your husband was even more irritable. It's probably due to disharmonious sex life. When you're discharged, be careful."
Maggie's face instantly turned red. She chuckled awkwardly and called out to the door, "Hello, Mr. Bary."
