Chapter 261 Pleasing Others

Ann also had two good things happened to her.

She just gave birth to a son, and now she's been promoted to supervisor. That's two good things happening for her.

As a woman, she had been successful in both family and career, which was admirable.

The private room was large enough to accommodate thirty to forty people without any problem.

Colleagues had arrived one after another, and the waiters had started serving dishes.

Maggie and Angela sat together, chatting about their views on jewelry design and exchanging opinions.

Just as everyone was about to start eating, another colleague arrived.

It was Farrell, whom they had seen at the company before.

Ann got along well with others, treating everyone equally, even someone like Farrell, who had a lower position. As long as he was willing to come, she was happy to have him.

Ann greeted with a smile. "Farrell, come in and sit; we were just waiting for you."

Farrell was a bit socially anxious, always lacking in confidence. He said some words of blessing to Ann, then sat down and didn't say much.

Farrell mainly did equipment maintenance in the company, posing no threat to anyone and not having much social value. He didn't actively engage with others, so he was easily overlooked.

While everyone else was chatting and laughing, Farrell seemed out of place, quietly eating his food.

Maggie glanced at him, but with a colleague sitting between them, she found it inconvenient to talk to Farrell.

Moreover, Farrell was a male, and Maggie, a married woman, should keep her distance from him.

Maggie only paid a bit more attention to Farrell because his name sounded like Fiorello's, and she had seen him on the same website before.

During the meal, Maggie accidentally dropped her handbag on the floor. Before she could pick it up, someone helped her.

"Here."

It was Farrell.

He picked up Maggie's bag and carefully wiped off the dust on it.

"Thank you." Maggie was slightly surprised, then smiled as she took the bag.

"You're welcome."

Farrell lowered his head and sat back in his seat, feeling a bit happier because he had just interacted with Maggie; she had spoken to him.

After seeing Maggie at the company last time, Farrell had been remembering her.

Ann raised her glass, toasting everyone in turn. When it came to Maggie, who was about to pour some wine, Ann said, "You should drink juice. You just got out of the hospital; you should listen to the doctor."

Maggie agreed with her; she dared not drink alcohol recklessly, as she easily got drunk and made a fool of herself.

Maggie smiled. "Then I'll toast Ann with juice, wishing you continuous success."

"Thank you."

They clinked glasses and finished the drink.

Ann remembered something. "Maggie, you came alone today. Didn't I say you could bring your family? Aren't you willing to introduce your husband to everyone?"

Maggie smiled. "He's on a business trip. Next time, when he's available, we'll definitely have a meal together."

Hearing about the husband, Ann didn't press her further.

Farrell, sitting nearby, heard about Maggie's husband and his expression changed slightly, a hint of jealousy flashed in his heart.

After drinking with Angela, Ann moved over to Farrell's side.

"Farrell, come, let's have a drink." Ann had a bit too much to drink.

Farrell stood up, holding the wine glass in both hands. "Thank you, Ann; I wish you continuous success."

Ann smiled. "I also wish you find a wife soon and have a successful career."

Despite going on many dates, Farrell had yet to find a partner. Those were the rumors circulating among the colleagues.

Feeling embarrassed, Farrell, shy and awkward, drank the wine, but in his haste, he choked on it.

A nearby colleague, Daniel Rodriguez, bluntly remarked, "With your appearance, no woman would like you. You can't even drink properly. It's normal to be unmarried at thirty."

These words embarrassed Farrell, his face turning red, but due to his soft nature, he didn't dare to retort.
