Chapter 186 The Female Virtue
"One can’t get away easily after injuring others behind their backs."
Benjamin said, "The person who tampered with the brake of Maggie's car is currently locked up in the police station."
Jenny blurted out, "Maggie is really lucky. Despite such a terrible car accident, she managed to survive."
Benjamin frowned. "I think you’d better not go in. You might end up saying something that angers everyone again."
He sensed Jenny's strong animosity towards Maggie.
Jenny didn't visit Maggie out of genuine kindness; she probably just wanted to see how badly Maggie was injured.
"Alright, I won't say anything. I'm just going to take a look," Jenny said. "We're already at the door, so we must go in."
Benjamin said, "Then don't say you came with me. I don't want to be scolded by Fiorello."
Maggie had been in a coma for a week, and Arya's spirits had also plummeted. Back then, Eleanor brought Arya to Cityhomes West to live with her because she could take care of Arya.
She also worried about whether Fiorello could hold on if he stayed in the hospital like this, so she had the household staff prepare delicious food and send it over every day.
Fiorello had no appetite at all. The meals were often left cold and untouched.
Dulce also noticed Fiorello's deep feelings for Maggie. She was relieved to see his unwavering support during this life-and-death situation. Even if something happened in the future, she could trust him.
After Emily visited Maggie in the hospital for the first time and saw the man she had been pursuing standing by Maggie's side, she was speechless for a long time.
Only then did she know that Maggie's husband was the CEO of Visionary Futures Group.
If Holden hadn't pulled Emily aside to explain, she would have thought Maggie had deceived her from the beginning.
Knowing that the Flores family was keeping secrets from Maggie, Emily could only pretend not to know at this critical moment.
A few days later, Emily remembered something. Early in the morning, she hurried to the hospital and dragged Holden outside.
"The handsome guy Maggie wanted to introduce to me was you, right? Did you know it was me and pretended to have a girlfriend?"
Emily's reaction was slow; it took her several days to realize it.
Holden chuckled. "Do I need to pretend? I can have any woman I want. There are so many choices for me."
Emily teased, "From what I see, you don't seem like someone from the Flores family. Fiorello is devoted and affectionate, but you, you're a playboy. It was wise of me not to be interested in you before."
Holden, thick-skinned as ever, joked, "So what if I'm a playboy? Does it bother you? Apparently, I’m not your type. And you are not my type, either."
Emily got angry and stomped on Holden's foot hard, calling him a "jerk."
Leaving those words behind, Emily turned and walked away.
Holden, in pain, hopped on one foot. "No man would dare to have you; you are a fierce woman. Let’s wait and see."
Hearing this, Emily became even more furious. She turned back and walked towards Holden in anger.
Holden, on guard, said, "What are you doing? Don't come closer. I'm in self-defense mode; I might hurt you."
Emily fiercely kicked again. Holden dodged the first one, but before he could feel triumphant, Emily landed a hit on his other foot.
Holden winced in pain, his face turning gloomy. Emily walked away triumphantly.
"What a rude woman! No man would want you," Holden retorted.
Emily ignored him and went to Maggie's ward, where she saw Jenny and Benjamin.
Emily knew that Jenny also admired Fiorello.
After all, they were in the same social circle. At a party last time, she heard from others that Jenny was always clinging to Fiorello.
Jenny's behavior seemed hypocritical and shameless after she found out that Fiorello was married.
Seeing Jenny about to enter the ward, Emily stepped forward and stopped her. "Jenny, it's been a long time since we last saw each other. Let's catch up outside."
Jenny tried to refuse Emily. "Emily, why would I catch up with you? I'm here to visit Maggie."
They had no real friendship and, at most, heard about something about each other. Even if they were in the same place, they would ignore each other.
"Why are you here then? You and Maggie aren't close," Emily didn't care whether Jenny liked it or not; she directly pulled Jenny away. "Maggie is Fiorello's wife. Don't flaunt yourself in front of Fiorello; You should abide by female virtue."
