Chapter 405 There Was Always One

Dulce never lost at debates.

Kimberly, fuming, stood up abruptly. "Maggie, what kind of friend is this? Birds of a feather flock together."

Maggie frowned. "Kimberly, you don't like me. You always judge me. Let's just stay out of each other's way. My daughter needs rest, so please leave."

Saying too much would make it look like she was bullying Kimberly. Best to just avoid each other.

"Maggie, are you kicking me out? You're so rude and uneducated." Kimberly pointed at Maggie with a trembling finger. "I'll call Fiorello and show him what kind of woman you are."

Arya tried to calm things down. "Mrs. Kimberly Flores, please calm down. Maggie didn't mean to drive you away. You misunderstood. Let's talk outside. If Maggie did something wrong, I'll handle it."

"You all are so good at pretending." Kimberly sneered. "No wonder Fiorello was fooled by you. Such good tactics."

Kimberly's accusations left Maggie speechless. There was no way to communicate with such an old lady.

Just then, Eleanor and Joseph came to visit Adalia and heard Kimberly's voice at the door.

Eleanor quickly walked in. "Mom, why are you here?"

Joseph was surprised too. "Mom, are you here to see Maggie?"

Kimberly, embarrassed to look at Maggie, had privately asked Joseph several times, which was why he guessed this.

Still angry, Kimberly said, "Joseph, you came just in time. Ask this woman how she deceived the Flores."

Joseph looked at Maggie, then at Kimberly. "Mom, what's going on?"

Eleanor was curious too.

Kimberly pointed at Adalia with her cane. "This child is Maggie's biological daughter. She hid her premarital pregnancy and 'adopted' Adalia. Now it turns out Adalia is her real daughter. This is deception, a premeditated plan."

"What?" Eleanor and Joseph were shocked. 'Adalia is Maggie's biological daughter?'

They looked at Adalia, and indeed, she did resemble Maggie.

Maggie decided to tell the truth. "Joseph, Eleanor, I just found out this morning and haven't had a chance to tell you. It wasn't intentional to hide it."

Eleanor asked, "Does Fiorello know?"

Maggie nodded. "Yes."

Eleanor and Joseph exchanged glances, unsure what to say. They had known Maggie had a child before and genuinely liked Adalia, feeling a sense of closeness. But this sudden change was hard to accept calmly.

Dulce glanced at Eleanor and Joseph's reactions. "Uncle Joseph, Aunt Eleanor, Maggie isn't in good health and is pregnant. That child is a Flores. Adalia may not be, but the one in her belly is."

Dulce reminded them to consider the child Maggie was carrying. Fiorello's first child—nothing could go wrong.

Eleanor and Joseph exchanged another glance. As elders, they couldn't say much. It was up to them to decide how to think about this.

Joseph didn't mention Adalia and asked, "Where did Fiorello go?"

Maggie said, "He told me he had some business at the Eagle Group."

Hearing "the Eagle Group," Joseph's face changed dramatically.
