Chapter 368 Isabella's Confession

Isabella opened her eyes and realized her confession was in her head.

She was relieved she hadn't actually said it; Fiorello might never want to see her again if she had.

Isabella got out of the car and said, "Thanks."

"Sure," Fiorello replied indifferently and walked away.

His job was done.

Isabella stood there for a while, holding the handkerchief and sniffing it. It smelled like pinewood, his scent.

Fiorello's handkerchief was custom-made, with "Flores" embroidered in one corner.

He had plenty of these handkerchiefs and didn't care much about this one, but Isabella treasured it.

It had his scent; it was something he kept close.

Isabella smelled the handkerchief, smiling like she was crazy, whispering Fiorello's name.

She had never been this crazy, not even with James.

It felt like she had come back to life. Around Fiorello, she wasn't her usual spoiled self; she was cautious and joyful, like a woman with a secret crush.

The next day, Maggie was discharged from the hospital.

Eleanor and Joseph both came, showing how much the family cared about Maggie.

Eleanor suggested, "Fiorello, why don't you bring Maggie home? I can take care of her too."

Joseph agreed. "I think that's a good idea."

Maggie glanced at Fiorello. While folding Maggie's clothes, Fiorello said, "No need. I'll take Maggie back to Cityhomes West. She's used to living there, and it's better for her pregnancy."

There was a lingering concern about Kimberly at Flores Manor, who had shown hostility towards Maggie, and Fiorello was determined to protect her from any mistreatment.

Eleanor and Joseph understood and didn't push further.

Once everything was packed, Eleanor helped carry the things, and Fiorello supported Maggie as they left the hospital.

Arya didn't come to pick them up; she was busy cooking at home. Since Maggie was being discharged today, she had taken Adalia to the store early to buy groceries and cook.

Adalia was very diligent, helping with whatever she could, sometimes even rushing to do the work.

Adalia was afraid her new parents would dislike her and abandon her, so she worked hard to make everyone like her.

As soon as Maggie entered the house, she smelled the food and called out, "Mom, what delicious food did you make? It smells so good."

Back home, Maggie felt very comfortable; it was always nice to be in her own home.

Hearing Maggie's voice, Arya came out of the kitchen, smiling. "You're back! Eleanor, Joseph, please sit down. The food will be ready soon."

Fiorello took Maggie's clothes to the room. As soon as Maggie sat down, Adalia brought her a glass of water. "Mom, have some water."

"Thank you, Adalia." Maggie felt very loved by her family.

Adalia also poured water for Eleanor and Joseph, then went to the kitchen to wash some fruit, keeping busy.

Since Maggie entered the house, she noticed Adalia hadn't stopped for a moment, always finding something to do.

Maggie found it strange and called Adalia over, "Adalia, do you want to watch TV? I can turn it on for you."

Adalia shook her head. "Mom, I don't like watching TV."

Maggie was surprised; Adalia seemed different after just one day.

Adalia used to love watching TV.

Arya smiled and said, "Adalia has been very good today. She got up early, mopped the floor, went grocery shopping with me, and even washed the vegetables. She also washed her own clothes."

Arya praised Adalia without realizing there was a problem.

Listening to this, Maggie exchanged a glance with Fiorello, who had just come out of the room. They both sensed something was off with Adalia.

Maggie sat down next to the sofa and asked, "Adalia, tell Mommy and Daddy, is there something you're hiding from us? We're a family, and you should tell us if something's bothering you."

Adalia twisted her little hands and shook her head, refusing to say anything.

Maggie gently said, "Adalia, you're very good, and we all like you. But if you have a little secret and don't tell us, we will be upset."

Hearing this, Adalia remembered what Olivia had said, that Maggie and Fiorello would abandon her if they got angry.

Adalia suddenly started crying. "Mommy, don't be mad. Don't abandon Adalia. Adalia is good; Adalia can do everything."

Her crying left Maggie at a loss. "Adalia, be good. I'm not mad. Don't cry."

Fiorello coaxed, "Adalia, we aren't blaming you, and we didn't ask you to do chores. We're happy that you're so sensible, but we hope you'll share your little secrets with us."

Arya was also confused by Adalia's crying, "Adalia, don't cry."

Eleanor and Joseph didn't know how to comfort her and just watched. They didn't understand why Maggie suddenly asked that question or why Adalia suddenly cried.

Adalia sobbed, "Olivia said that when Mommy has her own baby, she won't want Adalia anymore. Adalia will be good; Mommy, please don't leave Adalia."

Hearing this, Maggie's heart ached deeply.
