Chapter 115 Ms. Cook Comes to Find Her
Maggie wanted Selena to go back first while she would go to the company later. But Selena insisted on waiting for her outside the door.
Maggie had to go to the study to confirm with Fiorello first. "Our company's chief designer Selena came to invite me to work. Have you already talked to Mr. Bary about this?"
"Yes," Fiorello said calmly, "I mentioned it to him over the phone last night. Also, about Lily Cook, you don't have to worry too much about her. As an employee of the Visionary Futures Group, you should maintain your own dignity and not belittle yourself because of her social status."
This wasn't just a casual mention; it was practically an order.
Moved, Maggie embraced Fiorello's neck. "Fiorello, you’re truly my lucky star. By the way, I remembered something. Did you also arrange my interview?"
She thought, 'If I succeeded in the interview based on my own abilities, I would be very happy. But if it was because of Fiorello's connections, I would feel frustrated. It wouldn't be my own abilities, but rather relying on Fiorello. But what if I lost Fiorello one day?'
Fiorello understood her concerns and affectionately pinched her cheeks, saying, "I don't have that much influence. I didn't go to Mr. Bary for your interview. I went to see Mr. Bary this time because you were not at fault. The company shouldn't have fired you. Selena was using work matters to settle personal grudges."
Maggie stared at Fiorello for a while and eventually believed his words. "I feel like I've been really lucky lately; I should buy a lottery ticket. By the way, Quixote's family has experienced a major economic downturn. It's really strange. Such a huge corporation experiencing a sudden economic failure."
"The bigger the company, the greater the risk it faces. If it’s mismanaged and investments lead to losses, it can easily collapse in an instant," Fiorello patiently explained. "The business world is as ruthless as a battlefield, that's the truth."
Maggie nodded, somewhat understanding. "So, could a company as big as Visionary Futures Group collapse one day too?"
Fiorello chuckled and thought, 'Is this silly girl actually hoping for her husband's family business to fail?'
He replied, "As it stands, no. The business world is constantly changing, so I can't guarantee anything either."
"You're right," Maggie said. "I'll change clothes first and then go back to the company with Selena."
"Okay."
Fiorello didn't tell Maggie about his taking three days off for her sake. "Since you and Selena don't get along, do you need me to talk to Jones and rearrange your position?”
"There's no need for that," Maggie said. "Selena doesn't like me because she thinks I lack the ability, which I can understand. She went through a lot of hardship to become the chief designer, and here I am, with just a high school diploma, working under her. It's a disgrace for her. But don't worry. I will definitely make her change her opinion of me."
"Alright," Fiorello saw the confidence radiating from Maggie and realized that her mental resilience was not as weak as he had imagined.
Maggie changed her clothes, while Selena was still waiting at the door.
Maggie walked towards the elevator, and Selena said, "The elevator is broken…"
But as soon as she said that someone came out of the elevator, indicating that the elevator was functioning normally.
Maggie looked at Selena in confusion and said, "It's not broken."
Selena found it strange. When she arrived, all four elevators were out of order, but now, just ten minutes later, they were all fixed?
Maggie entered the elevator and called out, "Selena?"
Selena limped into the elevator. Fiorello stood on the balcony, watching Maggie walk out of the building.
Of course, Selena wouldn't know that the elevator had never broken. Fiorello had timed her arrival precisely and had the property management temporarily shut down the elevators.
At that moment, Fiorello's phone rang, and it was a call from Jones. "Mr. Flores, how should I handle Selena?" Jones asked straightforwardly.
Selena had been causing trouble for Maggie, despite knowing the background of Lily Cook and David Quixote's group. It was her scheming against Maggie that led to the subsequent events.
Thinking of Maggie's words, Fiorello said to Jones on the phone, "You don't need to handle her."
Jones said, "But Selena..."
Selena still harbored resentment towards Maggie.
"I believe Maggie will handle this situation well."
With Fiorello's reassurance, Jones naturally didn't say much more.
Meanwhile, back at the office, Maggie's return brought the greatest joy to Emily Roberts.
Emily hugged Maggie excitedly, saying, "Maggie, it's so great to see you back. Now I have someone to talk to. By the way, after Selena drove you away, Ann from the sales department called Mr. Bary to plead on your behalf."
Maggie was deeply moved by her words. She had helped Ann before, and despite being on maternity leave, Ann still stood up for her in a righteous manner.
Before Maggie could respond, a colleague approached. "Maggie, Selena wants you in her office. Ms. Cook is here and is requesting you to design a necklace for her."
