Chapter 767 He Likes Following Her

Lucy went out and saw Ivan smoking at the end of the hallway. She walked over and said, "Maggie wants you to come over."

Ivan took a drag of his cigarette, extinguished it, and tossed the butt out the window. He then put his hands in his pockets and started walking towards the ward.

Lucy called after him, "Ivan, if I hadn't come along, would you still have brought Maggie to the hospital? You like Maggie, don't you?"

She didn't know Ivan. It was their first meeting, and with such a handsome man, what woman wouldn't be tempted to take a few more glances?

Lucy could see Ivan's concern for Maggie; it was a man's affection for a woman.

Ivan turned back, glaring sharply at Lucy, "Mind your own business."

For someone he didn't know, Ivan didn't feel the need to explain much.

Lucy's heart skipped a beat under his intense gaze. It was only the second time she had seen such a fierce and murderous look.

The last time was in Fiorello's eyes.

Lucy didn't dare to ask more.

Ivan walked into the ward. It was already very late, past two in the morning.

Maggie was on the phone, and it was William calling.

After being taken to the hospital to get his wound stitched up, William immediately called Maggie.

That's when Maggie found out something had happened to William.

Maggie thought about that glass of wine and William's accident, feeling that something was off.

Harold didn't admit to drugging the drink, and if he had, he wouldn't have drunk it himself. Could someone have set him up?

Maggie's mind worked quickly, and she said to William on the phone, "Rest well in the hospital. Don't worry about anything else; your recovery is the priority."

William had a mild concussion and needed several stitches, requiring some hospital observation.

William said, "Okay, Maggie, I'll go straight to the office tomorrow. Can you handle things with Donald?"

Maggie didn't tell William about the situation on her end and said, "No problem, you just focus on getting better."

After finishing the call with William, Maggie called Caleb.

She noticed Ivan had come in but acted as if she hadn't seen him, dealing with her own matters first.

Ivan, after entering, didn't disturb Maggie and quietly sat on a chair, waiting.

When the call connected, Maggie ordered Caleb, "Go to Happy Pub now and check on the waiter who served drinks to the private room. Also, find out what happened after I left Happy Pub, and investigate the man who fought with William. Give me all the information after dawn. Got it?"

Caleb responded, "Got it."

"Good." Maggie hung up the phone and then looked at Ivan sitting nearby, "You've been following me again. What's your real purpose?"

If it wasn't for following her, how could it be so coincidental that Ivan always showed up when something happened to her?

But she couldn't figure out Ivan's intentions at the moment.

Ivan stared intently at Maggie, his deep eyes hiding something unfathomable.

Earlier, Maggie had handled things clearly and quickly, which made Ivan secretly pleased. She had grown; she was no longer weak and was smart enough to realize that tonight's events were not simple.

But she was still a woman, and when facing men, she would be at a disadvantage.

So she needed a man's protection.

Ivan just kept looking at Maggie. He didn't know why he liked following her. He had followed her from San Diego to Cyberland, and when Kyle asked him to return to Chaosville, he lied about having something to do and didn't go.

He had been secretly protecting her all this time.

Unconsciously, it had become a habit.

He just wanted to be where Maggie was.

Seeing him not speaking and just staring at her, Maggie frowned in displeasure, "Ivan, say something. What's your real purpose? Was it you who took Fiorello away? My people have found out that Fiorello isn't dead; he's still alive. He must have been taken by someone, and that person is you, right?"

She had been thinking about finding Ivan, but who knew he would follow her himself.
