Chapter 482 The Person Who Helps Them Appears

The records detailed everything about Kimberly's death—her appearance, her expression, the location of the stab wounds, and Maggie's testimony.

The young officer chimed in, "What's so weird about this? She must've hated Mrs. Flores. Francis, think about it. Losing a five-month-old fetus like that, wouldn't you be filled with rage? People do crazy things in the heat of the moment; it's totally understandable. You taught me that."

"You're a quick learner. What? You wanna be my apprentice? Sorry, I don't take apprentices, so don't try to butter me up." Francis was super meticulous. He skimmed through the records and said, "This first stab is way off. We can tell the killer was really emotional and inexperienced. The first stab should've been the most intense, but it wasn't that deep. The second stab, though, was too precise and vicious."

Usually, the first stab is the most brutal, but the records showed the opposite.

The young officer reminded him, "Francis, this case is already closed, and it involves the Flores family. They're not to be messed with. Don't you have a grudge against them? The case is closed, so let it be. The killer confessed, there's a motive, the murder weapon, and surveillance footage. The evidence is solid."

Francis put down the records and said, "This is called reasonable doubt. The simpler the case, the more likely there are issues. Archive the records."

The young officer, holding the records, glanced at them and asked, "Francis, is there really a problem? Could there be another killer? Should we reopen the case?"

Francis patted the young officer's shoulder and said, "You just said the Flores family is not to be messed with. Let sleeping dogs lie. Archive it."

Francis left, but at the door, he asked, "Where is the killer, Maggie, being held?"

The young officer replied, "Room 3."

With his hands in his pockets, Francis went to Room 3. Through the small window, he could see a woman curled up on the bed. If he listened closely, he could hear suppressed sobs.

At that moment, Maggie lifted her head, revealing a haggard yet delicate face. Seeing Maggie's face, Francis's eyes flashed with surprise. 'It is her.'

Instinctively, Francis placed his hand on the iron door. Realizing Maggie was Fiorello's wife, he clenched his hand and then turned to leave.

Francis returned to the office and asked the young officer to make a copy of the records.

The young officer hesitated. "Francis, this is against the rules. If the leader finds out, I'm dead."

Francis gave him a look. "Do you want to die now or later?"

Trembling, the young officer handed over the records. "Francis, just don't tell anyone I did this."

"You talk too much." Francis took the copy and left.

Fiorello remained unconscious in the ICU, with Eleanor by his side, her eyes nearly swollen shut from crying.

Holden went to Sunset Hills to explain things to Arya. Upon learning about Fiorello's situation, Arya had mixed feelings. When the Flores family asked her to move out of the villa with Adalia, she didn't object and packed up that day, returning to her old rental apartment with Adalia.

Holden said Maggie could come home in three days, so Arya waited patiently.

Adalia couldn't fully understand the changes happening.

In the rental apartment, Adalia watched Arya cleaning and asked, "Grandma, does Daddy not want me and Mommy anymore?"

Arya didn't know how to answer. She stopped what she was doing and said, "Adalia, your daddy and mommy are divorced. You'll understand when you grow up. From now on, you'll live with me and your mommy. She will be back in a few days. When she comes back, don't mention your daddy in front of her, or she'll be very sad."

Adalia nodded, half-understanding. "Will Mommy really come back?"

"Yes, she'll be back in a few days." Arya wiped the corner of her eye.

Adalia said, "Grandma, let me help you clean. When Mommy comes back and sees the house all clean, she'll be in a good mood."

"Good girl, Adalia." Arya felt very comforted.
