Chapter 591 Clues
Maggie heard the sound and shuddered, looking in the direction it came from.
She saw a little girl not far away at the corner, happily running into a woman's arms, shouting, "Mom, I want to eat cake."
The woman smiled and said, "Okay, let's go buy some now."
The woman held the little girl's hand and left. The happy scene pierced Maggie's heart.
Maggie silently shed tears. She also wanted to know where her daughter was.
"Adalia, where are you? Please answer me," Maggie muttered to herself, feeling like she couldn't hold on much longer.
At this moment, a janitor pushed a cart over. Maggie composed herself and stepped forward to ask, "Hello, ma'am, three days ago, on the day of the wedding here, did you see a little girl in a white princess dress, with short hair, about five years old?"
Maggie had asked almost all the hotel staff and wasn't sure if she had asked this janitor before.
The janitor, who was in her fifties, thought for a moment and said, "I think I saw her. Was she wearing a butterfly clip in her hair and a princess dress?"
"Yes," Maggie asked excitedly, "Where did you see her? Where was the last place you saw her?"
"Over there," the janitor pointed to the other end of the hallway. "I saw the little girl talking to a stuffed animal, and then I didn't see her again."
The janitor had been cleaning at the time and didn't pay much attention. She finished her work that night and went home, took two days off, and only came back to work today.
There were many children at the wedding that day. The janitor remembered Adalia because of the Peppa Pig stuffed animal, which caught her eye since her granddaughter also liked Peppa Pig.
"Stuffed animal?" Maggie was puzzled. "What stuffed animal? What did she say? Where did the little girl go afterward?"
"It was a Peppa Pig stuffed animal," the janitor said. "I saw the child talking to the stuffed animal, and then I really didn't see her again."
Peppa Pig stuffed animal.
Maggie remembered seeing someone in a Peppa Pig costume on the hotel's surveillance footage.
"Thank you, ma'am," Maggie said excitedly. She finally had a clue.
If she could find the person in the Peppa Pig costume, she might be able to find Adalia.
Maggie excitedly went to find the hotel manager and requested to review the surveillance footage again.
As the hostess of Visionary Futures Group, the hotel manager didn't dare to neglect her and respectfully handed over the surveillance footage to Maggie.
Maggie watched the footage again and indeed saw someone in a Peppa Pig costume in the banquet hall, but the person was always in the costume, so it was impossible to know who was inside.
Usually, people wear such costumes for promotional purposes. Maggie asked the hotel manager, "Was there any other event at the hotel that day? Do you know who was in the costume?"
The hotel manager glanced at it and shook his head, "I don't know. There were no other events that day. Who would wear a costume for no reason? Could it be a hobby?"
"Can we find this person?" Maggie asked. "Entering the banquet requires registration; there should be records."
"Mrs. Fiores, you're making it difficult for us. We don't even know what the person looks like, so it's impossible to find them. If someone wore it just for fun, it would be even harder to find them."
While Maggie was watching the footage, Fiorello arrived.
Fiorello knew that Maggie had been searching in and around the hotel for the past few days. Seeing Fiorello, Maggie excitedly said, "Fiorello, we have a clue. This person must have taken Adalia. Look, the costume can easily hide a child and take her out. The police couldn't find any evidence of Adalia leaving the building before, but this is it. I asked the janitor, and she said she saw Adalia talking to this person in the costume."
Fiorello's eyes darkened as he stared at the person in the costume on the footage for a while, then rewound the footage to watch it carefully again. "It's possible. I'll notify Francis to check the surveillance around the hotel to see if we can find where this person went."
