Chapter 287 Scammed at the Barber

The HR department didn't know why they had to fire Farrell; they were just following orders from above.

Given Farrell's usual honesty, someone from HR said, "The instructions came from above, and we're just carrying them out. You probably know the reason for your dismissal yourself. But you're not getting shortchanged; we're providing two months' extra salary. You can look for another job elsewhere."

Farrell really didn't know why he was being fired. He thought about almost getting into a fight with a colleague at the party and about following Maggie.

He wasn't sure who had spoken ill of him behind his back, but getting fired now was surely related to those two incidents.

Farrell took the extra two months' salary, went to the break room to change clothes, packed his things, and left.

He felt a bit unwilling as he left the company, standing at the entrance and looking up at the company sign.

Just then, Daniel, the colleague he had clashed with at the party, walked by. Seeing Farrell with his things, Daniel mocked, "Got fired. Need me to find you a job? Our apartment complex is hiring security guards. I think it suits you perfectly."

Farrell glared fiercely at Daniel, clutching his box tightly. "Don't mess with me."

"Oh, got some guts now? Do you want to fight again? Not afraid of going to jail? Come on, hit me," Daniel taunted, "Loser."

Farrell clutched his box tightly, his anger reaching its peak. He quickly walked towards Daniel, looking ready to fight.

Another colleague saw this and quickly pulled Daniel away. "Why are you provoking him? He's just a lunatic."

Farrell glared menacingly at the two, and they left.

Frustrated, Farrell was already enraged. Just then, he received a call from the dating site: "Mr. Florez, are you free now? Miss Miller is available tonight. I've already arranged the location at Scarlet Leaf Pub, at eight o'clock."

Farrell asked, "Is it Maggie, Miss Miller, the one you introduced before?"

"Yes, it's Maggie," the person from the dating website said with a smile, "Are you free tonight?"

"Yes, 8 PM at Scarlet Leaf Pub. I'll be there on time," Farrell said happily,

His mind was already a bit twisted. On one hand, he cursed Maggie as a fraud, but hearing about their date made him uncontrollably happy.

He even fantasized that if Maggie were satisfied with him, she would marry him.

He was sure he could do better than Maggie's husband.

With that thought, Farrell hurried home, took the two months' compensation, and went out. He first bought a new set of clothes and then got a haircut.

Feeling excited, Farrell was in a good mood, and the barber took the opportunity to sell him many products and shower him with compliments.

"Sir, you look so handsome. With your hair styled nicely, you'll be even more attractive and popular with the ladies. They'll love you."

Farrell got lost in the barber's flattery, nodding and imagining Maggie's admiring look at his stylish haircut. When it was time to pay, he was shocked.

"That'll be fourteen hundred dollars, sir."

Farrell's face immediately darkened, showing a hint of anger. "Say that again. Wasn't it supposed to be 128 dollars for a haircut?"

"It's fourteen hundred dollars in total," the barber said with a smile, "You had hair treatment done with imported products, which are naturally more expensive. I explained it all to you earlier."

Farrell couldn't accept the price, getting red in the face with anger, "You said the hair softening treatment was 200 dollars. Even adding that, it shouldn't be fourteen hundred dollars."

"Sir, calm down. You might not have heard clearly. The 200 dollars is for one section. Your hair was divided into forty sections, each carefully treated and precisely repaired down to every strand. Look, your hair is smooth and silky," the barber continued, "We even gave you a discount. It's fourteen hundred dollars."

Hearing this, Farrell exploded with anger. "This is a fraud! Cyberland doesn't even have forty districts, and you divided my hair into forty sections? I'm calling the police."

Farrell had just been fired today and now was being scammed by the barber. His anger had accumulated, and he erupted.
