Chapter 125 The Real Blind Date Partner

"You too," Maggie retorted with a wry smile.

Ever since their class reunion, Maggie had harbored resentment towards Jane. Jane smiled knowingly and said, "Maggie, you're being too humble."

Approaching Maggie, Jane's gaze fell on Maggie's belly, and she insinuated, "Watch out, don't play with lives again."

Maggie's expression turned grim. "I don't understand what you're talking about." What did Jane mean by "again"? And what did she mean by "playing with lives"?

Jane cryptically remarked, "Maggie, I really can't compete with you in this regard. A woman like you can find a husband like Fiorello is beyond belief. Stop pretending, the truth will always come out."

Jane thought to herself, 'Maggie is someone who had a chaotic past, dropped out of school due to an unwed pregnancy, and yet she managed to marry the most powerful man in Cyberland. Her luck is both admirable and enviable.'

Jane's ambiguous words left Maggie puzzled, but she didn't want to engage with Jane any further. She simply walked past her towards the exit.

Jane's voice trailed from behind, "The higher you climb, the harder you fall. Maggie, I'll be waiting to see you fall from your high pedestal." With Fiorello supporting her, Jane couldn't do much besides hurl insults, which only served to amuse her.

Maggie truly didn't understand what Jane meant and thought, 'I've never stood at a high place, so how could I fall from one?' Jane's words didn't faze Maggie much, they were just a minor annoyance. Spotting Fiorello waiting for her at the door, Maggie pushed Jane's comments out of her mind.

At the hospital, it was already 10 p.m. Jane visited Samwise. "I had some client meetings today, so I'm a bit late. How are you feeling?"

Samwise glanced at Jane's attire. "You weren't wearing this in the morning." He saw on Instagram that Jane was wearing a white dress in the morning, but now she had changed into pants.

"Um, I got it dirty, so I changed," Jane evaded the topic. "By the way, you mentioned Maggie's child last time. If Fiorello finds out, what do you think will happen to Maggie?"

Samwise's expression darkened. "This isn't your concern. I have my plan." Although Dulcinea had explained everything to Samwise, he still felt a pang of concern for Maggie. But considering her past pregnancy and the harm Fiorello had caused him, Samwise couldn't let go of his plan.

With an eight million dollar debt looming over him, Fiorello was Samwise's last hope, and Maggie was his bargaining chip. Jane quipped, "I'm just curious. You'll be discharged in another half month, and those creditors..."

Samwise shot Jane a cold glare. "I told you, you don't need to worry about this." Jane fell silent.

In the following days, Maggie and Fiorello's relationship grew stronger. One day, when Eleanor went to help clean their house, she discovered that Maggie and Fiorello were no longer sleeping separately, which made her very happy. Perhaps they had a chance of having a child. Eleanor shared the good news with the Flores family, and even Fiorello's father was pleased.

After securing Lily's order, Maggie also gained recognition within the company, and her colleagues' attitudes towards her underwent a significant change.

However, Selena still didn't like Maggie. Struggling with a creative block, Selena couldn't produce any designs. As she passed by Maggie's desk, she noticed a few design drafts that caught her eye.

Although Maggie was not a professional, she had an innate talent for jewelry design and was also very intelligent. Even the casual design drafts on Maggie's desk were enough to make Selena amazed and jealous.

Driven by her competitive spirit, Selena, as the chief designer, refused to let anyone surpass her. She looked around and saw no one. Since it was lunchtime, the people in the design department had gone to the cafeteria. Selena carefully took note of the design drafts and silently returned to her office.

Meanwhile, Maggie, having finished her lunch, received a call from Fiorello, who was about to embark on a business trip for a few days. Maggie's mood instantly soured, though she kept it to herself. Habits could be daunting, and she had grown accustomed to Fiorello's presence every day, so the thought of him being away for a few days made her feel down.

Maggie and Emily returned to the office together, and naturally, Emily overheard the conversation between Maggie and Fiorello on the phone.

Noticing Maggie's gloomy expression, Emily teased, "You don't want him to leave you, do you? I've noticed someone being quite clingy to her husband."

"Oh, stop it," Maggie blushed. Stepping out of the elevator, they encountered a man carrying a ladder emerging from the fire escape.

A colleague from the secretary department called out to the man, "Farrell, the lights in the computer room are acting up. Can you go take a look?"

Hearing the name Farrell, Maggie almost mistook it for Fiorello. Farrell's name sounded eerily similar to Fiorello's. Taking a second glance at Farrell, Maggie observed his honest, unassuming demeanor. He looked to be in his early thirties, with a slightly chubby build.

"Okay," Farrell agreed, taking the ladder to the computer room.

Emily curiously asked the secretary department colleague, "Is he also from our company? He seems a bit slow, doesn't he?"

The colleague explained, "Farrell Flores used to be our security guard. Since he's good at fixing electrical stuff, we assigned him to handle it. Farrell is a simple guy, both his parents are gone, and despite being in his thirties, he's still single. I heard that he was scammed about ten thousand dollars when he was looking for a girlfriend on a dating website recently."

Listening to Farrell's story, Maggie couldn't shake a sense of familiarity. Besides the name similarity, Farrell's background strangely mirrored Fiorello's. Both had lost their parents and hadn't found a partner by their thirties.

"Which dating site did he use?" Maggie inquired.

"It's called Destiny. There are so many scammers, so Farrell easily fell victim to scams. He couldn't find a girlfriend in real life, let alone online. And those people online are very good at deceiving him," the colleague replied.

Emily suggested, "Maggie, didn't you and your husband meet on a dating website too? Which one was it? I think it's reliable. You should recommend it to Farrell."

Maggie smiled and said, "I also met my husband on Destiny. Maybe I was lucky and didn't encounter any scammers."

Emily said, "Well, it's not guaranteed, because people can be good or bad. Maggie, you're a lucky one, Maggie. I'm sure you wouldn't fall for those tricks."

While they were chatting, Farrell finished fixing the lights in the computer room and walked out. He said to his colleague in the secretary department, "I've fixed it, I'm going to have lunch now."

Farrell appeared honest and easygoing, with a slow, deliberate way of speaking that made him seem approachable.

Waving him off, the secretary department colleague said, "Go on, enjoy your lunch, Farrell."

Emily squeezed Maggie's hand and asked, "With Fiorello away on business, how do you plan to spend this weekend?"

Farrell was holding a ladder, ready to leave. When he heard Maggie's name, he subconsciously stopped. The name sounded familiar. The last time he was set up on a date from the dating site, the girl's name was also Maggie.

He was late that day, so when he rushed to the café, his date was already gone. Later, the dating site introduced him to someone else, and that's when he got scammed for about ten thousand dollars.
