Chapter 119 Revealing the Answer

In folk beliefs, there's a saying called 'borrowing a life. ' Especially for couples who have been married for several years without conceiving, they may adopt a child from an orphanage. The presence of a child in the family atmosphere is believed to make it easier to conceive. This is superstition, but there are quite a few successful examples.

However, for those adopted children who were brought back for "borrowing a life," once their adoptive parents have their own biological children, these adopted children become pitiful. They cannot return to the orphanage, and their adoptive parents often consider them burdens, as they lack a blood relationship. After all, who would willingly raise someone else's child?

Fiorello wasn't someone who enjoyed gossip or someone whose sympathy overflowed easily.

However, when he heard about Adalia's situation, he felt a surge of anger in his heart. He subconsciously wanted to know more about Adalia's circumstances. However, these elderly women had only heard about it from others. The credibility of these claims was low, and they didn't know much. After all, it was a private matter. They had only met once, so Fiorello saw no need to get involved.

In the company, it was already half past four in the afternoon, with half an hour left until closing time. Maggie remained calm as she sketched designs, and Lily tried to sneak a peek but was blocked by Maggie's hand. Maggie smiled and said, "Ms. Cook, what’s the rush. It's not time yet." Lily snorted and said, "There's still half an hour. I don't think you can come up with any good design."

Half an hour later, Maggie stopped drawing right on time, as if taking a timed exam and submitting the paper when time was up.

"I'm done," Maggie stood up and blew off some nonexistent dust from the design.

Lily quickly leaned in to see and found that Maggie had drawn a flower.

Lily immediately criticized Maggie, "Maggie, are you mocking me? What kind of design sketch is this? Is this all the ability Visionary Futures Group has?"

Maggie calmly said, "Ms. Cook, don't be impatient. Take a closer look. What kind of flower is this?"

Lily disdainfully took another look. In fact, she had already seen clearly before.

"Gardenia. I asked you to design a necklace for me. Why did you draw a gardenia? If I want, I can have any flower. Why would I want a fake one?"

Maggie calmly said, "You can have any flower you want, but you haven't gotten the man you desire." Her words left Lily stunned, as if her true thoughts had been exposed, and Lily's face turned red with embarrassment.

Maggie raised the design plan and continued, "Ms. Cook, I know what kind of necklace you want. The main design of the necklace pendant is a sphere, with a gardenia flower wrapped inside. When you hang it around your neck, the gardenia flower will be closest to your heart."

Lily said disdainfully, "I don't like it..."

"The symbolic meaning of the gardenia flower is a silently guarding love," Maggie interrupted Lily and continued, "The leaves of the gardenia flower remain evergreen throughout the four seasons, enduring various winds and frosts without withering. It appears to bloom casually, but it actually goes through three quarters of waiting, as if silently guarding the arrival of a beloved person. It's like how you silently guard David and love him."

Lily exclaimed in astonishment, "How did you..."

"How did I know you like David?" Maggie smiled and said, "The eyes of someone in love never lie. That night at the Sercial Guild Hall, I could tell you liked David. A person only restrains their temper in front of the person they like. You have always been arrogant and domineering, but that night you were particularly quiet. But when David encountered trouble, you became worried."

Liking David was a secret Lily had hidden in her heart for years. Hearing it spoken aloud by Maggie, she suddenly felt like she had no privacy in front of her.

Lily said, "Even if you're right, so what? I don't like your design."

"Everyone has secrets, and your secret will be hidden in this glass sphere, within this gardenia flower, placed closest to your heart," Maggie said, "Having a crush on someone is both difficult and blissful. Whether you like it or not depends on yourself."

Lily asked, "How did you win David that night at the Sercial Guild Hall?"

Lily still hadn't figured it out.

Maggie didn't hide it from her and said, "There's a magnet behind the dartboard. People like you, with your status, have many who try to please you. But do you truly enjoy being entertained like a monkey? Self-esteem and dignity are earned by yourself, not given by others. I am not your imaginary enemy either."

Lily fell silent.

"Ms. Cook, I wish you fulfillment as you desire," Maggie handed the design plan to Lily and then left the office.

After spending three hours in the office, Maggie walked out and found that her colleagues hadn't left. Everyone was waiting for the result.

They all wanted to see if Maggie could satisfy Lily.

Selena also approached, coldly saying, "Did you satisfy Ms. Cook? Don't forget about our bet."

At this moment, Lily walked out of the office. Maggie didn't answer Selena's question, leaving it to Lily to announce the final result.
