Chapter 199 Not Above Board
Talking behind someone's back was caught on the spot.
Emily immediately turned around to see Fiorello and Jones standing at the door.
Emily was astonished. 'Oh my god!'
The Fiorello and Jones she was talking about heard everything behind her.
Whether Jones heard it or not, Emily didn't think it mattered.
The key was that Fiorello heard it.
He was her former dream lover, and she needed to maintain some dignity.
Emily turned silently, covering her face, pretending that Fiorello and Jones couldn't see her.
Maggie also felt awkward about the situation. Seeing Emily's immediate reaction to leave, she couldn't help but smile wryly.
"Emily, could you help me buy some fruit?"
Maggie thoughtfully provided Emily with an excuse to leave.
Emily immediately understood. "I'll go right away."
Covering her face and lowering her head, Emily squeezed past Jones and Fiorello. "Excuse me, please!"
After Emily left, Jones came in with supplements. "Maggie, are you feeling better? I feel a bit sorry for what happened, so I bought you some supplements. Take them and get well quickly."
Jones bought expensive supplements.
It must have cost a lot of money.
"Mr. Bary, no need to apologize," Maggie quickly said, "I should be the one apologizing. I've been in the hospital for over a month, delaying a lot of work."
"Work is not important," Jones glanced at Fiorello's expression and quickly said, "Just focus on recovering. Don't rush back to work. Your salary will be paid as usual. Just focus on getting better, and everything will be fine."
Jones' words made Maggie feel sorry.
Fiorello sat next to Maggie and said, "I've told you to focus on recovering. Jones and I are old friends. Considering how seriously you were injured, it's good enough that I didn't blame him; he wouldn't dare deduct your salary."
Jones quickly added, "That's right."
Jones wouldn't dare to, but Fiorello paid Jones's salary.
Maggie looked suspiciously at the two of them, feeling that Jones seemed a bit too obedient in front of Fiorello, not like old friends.
Perhaps it was because Fiorello was from the headquarters, so Jones was showing him some respect.
Jones was tactful. He didn't stay in the ward for long before leaving. He didn't want to disturb Fiorello and Maggie being alone together.
Now that it was confirmed that Maggie was the hostess of Visionary Futures Group, Jones was quite excited. His future depended on Maggie now. By building a good relationship with Maggie, he wouldn't have to worry about anything.
In the following days, while Maggie recovered in the hospital, Fiorello spent a few hours out during the day handling company matters and returned to the hospital in the evening to be with Maggie.
As for social gatherings, Fiorello canceled them all. Insiders knew that Maggie had an accident, so Fiorello returned to the hospital every night to be with her.
During the day, Eleanor, Arya, Dulce, and Emily often visited the hospital, so Maggie never felt bored.
Maggie stayed in the hospital for a full two months before finally being discharged.
Upon hearing that she could leave the hospital, Maggie urged Fiorello to handle the discharge procedures so she could go home quickly.
"Alright, I'll take care of the discharge procedures. You wait for me in the ward." Fiorello instructed with a smile before leaving.
Maggie went to the restroom to change into her regular clothes, pack her things, and wait to be discharged.
As she was packing, a familiar voice suddenly sounded behind her.
"How fortunate."
Maggie turned abruptly to see Selena standing behind her, looking somewhat surprised.
"How did you come here?"
"I was just passing by, and I thought I should take a look," Selena said sarcastically. I've been detained for over a month because of you, Maggie. How do you plan to settle this score?"
Maggie replied calmly, "If you truly had no suspicions, the authorities wouldn't have kept you detained. Your appearance in the parking lot that day wasn't a coincidence. You seem to hate me more than Betty."
Maggie believed that, given the chance, Selena would do the same as Betty.
Selena sneered. "Maggie, don't get too comfortable. You're just the CEO of Visionary Futures Group's mistress. Imagine if the wife of the CEO of Visionary Futures Group found out about your existence; what do you think would happen?"
Maggie looked puzzled. "Mistress?"
