Chapter 514 A More Dangerous Person
After they split up at the apartment, Fiorello finally turned on his phone to check his messages. Three missed calls from Joseph.
Thinking about the guy who tailed him last night, Fiorello knew what was up.
Fiorello drove straight to the office, and soon enough, Joseph showed up.
"Where were you last night?" Joseph barked the moment he walked in.
Fiorello stayed cool. "Didn't your guy already fill you in?"
Joseph was fuming. "Fiorello, your grandmother just passed away, and you're already messing around with the murderer again. What did you promise me at home? Do you want your grandmother to die with regrets?"
"I haven't forgotten," Fiorello said, his face darkening. "Grandma did die with regrets because the real murderer is still out there."
"The real murderer?" Joseph was taken aback. "What do you mean? What real murderer?"
"Leave it to me, Dad. I know what I'm doing," Fiorello said, frowning. "You should focus on organizing Gregory and the Holmes family's wedding and think about how to calm Mom down."
Joseph couldn't figure Fiorello out anymore. He sat down, staring at Fiorello, and said earnestly, "Fiorello, I truly have no idea what's on your mind right now. I asked Gregory to come back, and you didn't say anything. I arranged for him to marry Jenny, and you had no objections. Do you really agree with Gregory returning to the Flores family?"
"Gregory is your son, not mine. Why should I have an opinion?"
Joseph was left speechless.
Joseph changed the subject. "I heard from Kevin that you took quite a few projects from the Holmes Group. What are you up to?"
"Business is about skill, not stealing," Fiorello said coldly, "Dad, go back and tell Kevin not to worry. It's all normal business operations, just a misunderstanding. If he wants the projects, he just needs to say so."
Hearing this, Joseph didn't doubt Fiorello any further.
"Don't forget what I just said. Maggie can forget about marrying into the Flores family again."
With that, Joseph left.
Holden ran into him at the door and called out, "Dad."
Joseph said, "Stop playing around all the time. Learn from Fiorello how to manage the company properly."
Holden reluctantly replied, "I know."
After Joseph left, Holden entered the office and said, "Fiorello, did Dad find out you went to see Maggie? What if he doesn't agree to let Maggie come back?"
"It doesn't matter," Fiorello said nonchalantly. "I'll just go to Maggie's place."
Holden was shocked. "Fiorello, are you trying to drive Mom and Dad crazy?"
"That's not out of the question," Fiorello said calmly. "It's good that you came to the office so early today."
"I am here at eight. I bet you and Maggie aren't even up yet," Holden said, knowing that Fiorello must have stayed at Maggie's place last night.
Holden asked, "Fiorello, what does Maggie say?"
"The second stab wound on Grandma's chest wasn't inflicted by her," Fiorello said, his brows furrowing. "It must have been the second murderer."
Holden was excited. "Then we can call the police and have them arrested."
"Do you think the police will believe a murderer's words?" Fiorello glanced at Holden. "The Holmes family hasn't gone bankrupt yet, and Jenny is pregnant. There's not enough evidence. Reopening the case now would be the worst timing. We need to wait another two months."
Reopening the case now, with insufficient evidence, would only give the Holmes family a chance to retaliate, plunging Maggie back into public scrutiny.
If they were going to take down the Holmes family, they needed to do it precisely, leaving no room for them or Jenny to recover.
Holden asked, "Fiorello, are you planning to wait until May 5th, the day Gregory and Jenny get married?"
"Yes," Fiorello said. "In the meantime, keep an eye on the Holmes Group. I've already sent Brian to find evidence of Jenny's crime."
Holden was excited. "When the truth comes out, the Holmes family will go bankrupt, and Kevin won't be able to protect Jenny."
Fiorello sneered. "No matter what, Kevin won't be able to protect Jenny. If we wait until May to take action, the Flores family will lose less. Besides, we still haven't identified the person who sabotaged the Crystal Peaks factory's goods. That's the more dangerous threat."
