Chapter 358 Bleeding
Fiorello wasn't into Jenny at all, and Kimberly noticed too. Getting them together would be a challenge.
Kimberly said, "Since you can't hang out with me, I'll ask Jenny to go shopping. Playing cards is boring. Fiorello, why not say hi to Jenny? You two practically grew up together."
Fiorello finally glanced at Jenny and, out of respect for Kimberly, greeted her, "Ms. Holmes."
It was a very formal greeting.
Kimberly nudged Fiorello. "Don't call her Ms. Holmes. You know each other well. Call her Jenny."
Fiorello stayed silent.
Jenny looked awkward and asked, "Fiorello, want something to drink?"
Fiorello waved to the waiter himself. "A latte, please. Thanks."
"Sure, sir," the waiter replied and went to prepare it.
Kimberly, trying to bring them together, kept the conversation going. "Jenny, remember when you came to our house in that pretty white dress? Fiorello even said he wanted to marry you when he grew up that day."
Fiorello frowned. "Grandma, I never said that."
"You were young, you forgot, but I remember," Kimberly smiled. "I thought you'd keep your promise."
Jenny blushed. "Kimberly."
"Don't be shy. You like Fiorello, and that's great," Kimberly said sarcastically. "If Maggie hadn't shown up, you'd already be my granddaughter-in-law."
Her tone was full of disdain for Maggie.
Fiorello didn't argue; it was pointless.
Seeing Fiorello's silence, Kimberly thought she was making things awkward, so she made an excuse to leave. "Fiorello, I need to use the restroom. You and Jenny chat."
After Kimberly left, the tension rose.
Jenny glanced at Fiorello and saw his cold expression. She stammered, "Fiorello."
Fiorello interrupted coldly, "Ms. Holmes seems to have forgotten how to address me."
"Mr. Flores," Jenny corrected herself with a forced smile. "I don't know why Kimberly said that. It wasn't my idea."
Jenny wanted to leave a good impression on Fiorello. She didn't want him to think she had instigated Kimberly or badmouthed him.
"It's better if you didn't mean it that way," Fiorello said coldly. "This is my final warning. Stop your schemes. The anonymous info sent to the old mansion, bribing Kathy to impersonate someone, and sending explicit photos to my wife—do you find these childish tactics amusing?"
When Fiorello called her out, Jenny's face changed. "Mr. Flores, I don't know what you're talking about."
"A smart woman shouldn't outsmart herself," Fiorello sneered. "If you keep causing trouble, don't blame me if the Holmes Group vanishes."
Realizing the jig was up, Jenny dropped the act. "Yes, I did it. I love you and don't want you fooled by Maggie. How am I worse than her? She had a child outside of marriage and can't have more kids. She's not worth your love. Without her, you'd choose me. Even Kimberly wants me as her granddaughter-in-law."
Fiorello's cold eyes bore into her. "Ms. Holmes, you need help for your delusions. I've never had feelings for you. I love my wife, and her past is our business, not yours."
His words were like daggers, cutting deep into Jenny.
Her face turned red with anger and embarrassment. She felt humiliated and heartbroken.
Tears welled up in her eyes. "Fiorello, do you have to be so heartless? We grew up together, and our families are close. Do you have to be so cruel to a girl?"
Fiorello sneered. "Be glad you're a girl. Otherwise, I'd have already dealt with you."
His ruthless words stung, filling Jenny with humiliation and resentment.
Tears streamed down her face as she stood up. "Fiorello, you'll regret humiliating me like this."
Kimberly, who had been eavesdropping, saw Jenny crying and knew things were bad. She quickly intervened, "Jenny, why are you crying? Fiorello, why did you make her cry? Apologize now."
Fiorello stood up, his voice cold. "Ms. Holmes, take care of yourself."
Jenny cried even harder.
"Jenny, don't cry. I'll scold this brat for you," Kimberly said, pretending to hit Fiorello.
Fiorello remained unmoved. Just then, his phone rang.
He answered, and Dulce's panicked voice came through, "Fiorello, come to the hospital quickly. Maggie's in bad shape. She's bleeding."
Fiorello's expression changed dramatically. "What happened?"
Dulce anxiously explained, "I don't know. We were drinking, and suddenly she said her stomach hurt and started bleeding. We're heading to the hospital now."
