Chapter 286 The Big Boss Stepped In Again
At the school gate, Adalia waved and said, "Bye, Mom and Dad."
Fiorello seemed reluctant, standing at the school gate for quite a while.
Maggie took his arm and teased, "Come on, we're going to be late for work. If you miss her so much, why don't you join her in kindergarten?"
Fiorello said, "She's growing up so fast. Have you noticed? Adalia's getting taller and more beautiful, just like you."
"They say children often resemble those who raise them, and since Adalia is raised by both of us, it's natural she's starting to resemble us more. Sometimes I think she looks just like you, molded from the same mold."
As they talked, they walked towards the car parked by the roadside. "By the way, a colleague of mine has been acting really strange lately. He followed me to the subway station last night."
Maggie remembered and mentioned it to Fiorello.
Fiorello immediately sensed danger. "What colleague? Which department? A man? What's his name? What's his motive?"
Seeing him so tense, Maggie said, "Don't worry too much. His name is Farrell. I think he got scammed on a date and is a bit upset. He also uses Destiny for dating, but he's had several failed attempts and lost quite a bit of money. He knows I used Destiny, too, so he keeps accusing me of being a scammer. It's really weird."
"In that case, keep your distance from him," Fiorello cautioned. "You never know these days. Stay vigilant and don't underestimate others."
"Got it." Maggie raised her hand in a promise. "I'll definitely keep my distance."
Maggie was a bit scared of Farrell, too, so she would definitely stay away.
Fiorello dropped Maggie off at her company, watched her go inside, and then drove to the next intersection.
William and the driver were waiting at the intersection. Fiorello parked the Chevrolet by the roadside and got into the Rolls-Royce.
Every morning, after dropping Maggie off at work, Fiorello would switch cars at this intersection.
William and the driver would always wait there in advance.
William began to report on today's schedule. "Mr. Flores, you have an appointment with Mr. Bolton from the Hars Group this morning. In the afternoon, Mr. Tataro from the Tataro Group has invited you to play golf."
Fiorello's schedule was packed.
"Alright," Fiorello responded briefly and took out his phone to call Jones.
Jones had just arrived in the office when he saw the big boss's private number calling. His heart almost jumped to his mouth.
Jones immediately answered the call respectfully, "Mr. Flores, what can I do for you?"
"Do you have an employee named Farrell? Find a reason to fire him and give him an extra two months' salary as compensation."
The extra two months' salary was a pity gesture for Farrell being scammed on dates.
Since Farrell had targeted Maggie and even followed her home, Fiorello definitely wouldn't keep him around.
Jones didn't know who Farrell was, but since the boss had given the order, he had to comply.
"Yes, Mr. Flores," Jones asked, "Anything else?"
Fiorello pondered, "For next month's anniversary celebration, you and Angela will attend together."
This news excited Jones. "Thank you, Mr. Flores."
After ending the call, Jones immediately went to the HR department to look up the employee named Farrell.
Upon investigation, Jones was puzzled. He had expected the big boss to personally call about someone significant, but it turned out to be an ordinary maintenance worker in the company.
Calling him a maintenance worker was putting it nicely; he actually fixed things like electrical bulbs and toilets.
Such a small fry had somehow offended the big boss.
Jones couldn't figure it out, but he guessed Farrell must have offended Maggie.
That had to be it.
If the big boss wouldn't even spare a maintenance worker, it had to be because of Maggie.
Since the boss had given the order, Jones had no choice but to send Farrell a termination notice and give him an extra two months' salary.
Farrell, who was fixing a light bulb in the maintenance office, was stunned when he received the notice from HR. He asked, "Why am I being fired? What did I do wrong?"
