Chapter 517 Two Slaps

Maggie's words hit Dulce like a ton of bricks.

Dulce hadn't seen Maggie's wild side in ages, and all Isabella did was to have a crush on Fiorello. That didn't seem like a reason to get violent. Worst case, they could just avoid each other.

Something else had to be up.

Isabella was just as shocked; she saw pure hatred in Maggie's eyes, not just anger.

Guilt washed over Isabella. Did Maggie know what she had done?

Isabella finally spoke up, "Maggie, I couldn't help falling for him. I tried to fight it, but the more I did, the stronger it got."

Maggie cut her off, "So you thought you could just replace me? If I died, you'd get what you wanted, right?"

Isabella was stunned. Before she could respond, Maggie slapped her hard. All of Maggie's anger and hatred went into that slap.

A red handprint appeared on Isabella's face, swelling up, with a bit of blood at the corner of her mouth.

Dulce was stunned, wondering if Maggie had gone too far.

Isabella stood there as everyone around stared.

Maggie glared at Isabella and said, "You know why I hit you. This slap is for me. I treated you like a sister, but you were fake."

Then Maggie slapped the other side of Isabella's face, making both sides equally swollen.

"Maggie," Dulce was shocked, thinking Maggie had gone too far, and tugged at her.

Maggie kept her eyes on Isabella and said, "This slap is for my child. You know what you did at the Harmony Street intersection."

Isabella's heart sank, panic filling her eyes. Her dirty deeds were coming to light.

She dreaded Maggie knowing about that day, and even more, she feared Fiorello finding out.

"Maggie, listen to me. I was just worried that day and wanted to get you to the hospital fast, so I took that route. You misunderstood," Isabella stammered, unable to face her own malice.

"You turned right from a straight lane, risking a ticket, and drove into a dangerous area. Should I thank you? Delaying for minutes, causing my child to miss the best chance for rescue?" Maggie sneered and said, "Isabella, we both know what you were thinking. I've seen the footage from that day. Stop pretending. You're here now because you're scared and guilty. You took away my child's last chance."

Isabella was speechless. Dulce was livid. "Maggie, are you saying Isabella did it on purpose? Isabella, you're nuts. That's murder!"

Dulce wanted to hit Isabella.

Maggie held Dulce back and said to the pale-faced Isabella, "Isabella, actions have consequences. Sometimes punishment isn't immediate. When I saw the footage, I thought about going to the police. But I decided not to. My child is gone, but you won't be happy. I hope you only meet bad people, never know real love, and die alone."

Knowing Maggie wouldn't go to the police, Isabella relaxed.

As long as Isabella didn't admit it, in civil disputes like this, the longer it dragged on, the more it hurt the most affected party.

Isabella wiped the blood from her mouth and said, "Two slaps, and we're even."

As for the curse, Isabella wasn't worried; she didn't believe in that stuff.

After Isabella left, Dulce was still fuming and asked, "Maggie, why let her go?"

"What else could I do? Sue her?" Maggie said, "I looked into it. Civil disputes like this are hard to win. Isabella won't admit it, and I had taken abortion pills at the time, so the doctor couldn't say for sure that timely rescue would have saved the child. I'm okay now. Isabella will just face gossip and moral judgment, not legal punishment."

"That's too easy on her," Dulce said angrily. "She deserved to be cheated on in her eight-year marriage. Now she suddenly finds James attractive. She shouldn't have a happy ending. I hope she meets a scammer who takes everything from her."

"Enough," Maggie said. "People like her will get what's coming. Don't waste your energy cursing her."

"I'm just so mad. I hate her," Dulce said, clenching her fists, ready to fight.

Maggie started packing up the decorations on the table and said, "I'm heading home."

"Packing up so early? Got a hot date?" Dulce asked casually.

Maggie laughed, "Yeah, I'm going to have an affair."
