Chapter 342 Mark Was Here
Fiorello's grand declaration and sincere pledge solidified Maggie's place within the Flores family, a position that seemed unshakable.
Jenny was fuming, wishing Maggie had never made it off that mountain.
Unable to bear it any longer, she stormed out of the banquet hall, craving some space to cool down. Gregory, the man who had offered his assistance, trailed behind her.
"Throwing in the towel already?" Gregory sneered, sporting a sinister grin.
Jenny retorted sharply, "You promised help, but now Fiorello's proclaimed Maggie as Mrs. Flores."
"The higher they rise, the harder they fall," Gregory remarked with a cunning smirk, "The real fun's just getting started."
Jenny was confused. "What do you mean?"
"You made a shrewd move going to his grandmother. Keep stirring up trouble, and they will be in eternal chaos. Fiorello will be so overwhelmed that he'll divorce Maggie." Gregory produced a document. "Here, a little present from me."
Jenny's hands trembled as she opened the document, her eyes widening in astonishment. "How did you get hold of this? Is it true that Maggie was expecting a baby before marriage?"
Excitement surged through her. If Kimberly discovered this, Maggie's life within the Flores dynasty would become a nightmare.
Gregory nonchalantly shrugged, flicking away an imaginary speck of dust. "Forget about how I obtained it. Focus on using it. The method is up to you."
A sinister glint sparked in Jenny's eyes. "Maggie believes she can waltz into wealth and luxury? She's in for a rude awakening."
With a cold chuckle, Gregory strolled off, disdain for every member of the Flores family festering within him. As Joseph's unacknowledged son, he had lived in the shadows while Fiorello reveled in the limelight. The disparity grated on him.
Despite his Flores lineage, he would forever exist on the fringes of the family.
Walking into the hotel lobby, Gregory glimpsed the live transmission playing on the television screen. The sight of Fiorello and Maggie lost in affection fueled his anger.
"Fiorello, let's see where your loyalties truly lie—career or wife."
A malevolent smirk etched on his face, Gregory headed towards the exit but paused as a ruckus erupted at the entrance. Security guards were thwarting an intruder attempting to crash the anniversary gala.
"No invitation, no entry," the guard stated firmly.
The man contested, "You witnessed Mrs. Flores on the broadcast. She's my daughter, and we should be inside together."
It was Mark, who had hurried over from London but lacked an official invitation. Observing Fiorello's grand gesture to Maggie on the live stream, Mark was overcome with emotion. That was his daughter being celebrated.
The guard remained resolute. "No invitation, no entry. You could be deceiving us. Just claiming to be Mrs. Flores' father is insufficient proof. If we grant access and something untoward occurs, we bear the blame."
"I speak the truth. Here's my business card." Mark's frustration mounted. Despite his standing, he found himself hindered by a lowly security guard.
"Allow him through," Gregory interjected, revealing his wristband. "I'll take responsibility."
As guests sported wristbands with their details, the guard relented and permitted Mark to enter.
Expressing his gratitude, Mark hurriedly thanked Gregory. "I appreciate it. I misplaced my invitation."
Mark didn't have an invite but said so to save face.
"Are you Mrs. Flores, Maggie's father? I was under the impression she was raised by her mother alone," Gregory inquired, a hint of skepticism in his voice.
Having delved into Maggie's history, Gregory was aware that she had been raised solely by her mother.
"I am her father, but I've been living abroad for years, so not many are acquainted with that fact," Mark explained, a touch of unease creeping into his tone. "The dinner has begun. I should head in now. Thank you once more."
"Of course, no worries."
Gregory chose not to delve deeper. Whether the man before him was genuine or a pretender, his instincts indicated a dubious character. More upheaval equated to a more favorable outcome in Gregory's eyes.
