Chapter 422 The Source of Bullying

Adalia had just transferred to a new, elite school where every student had a powerful background.

When Maggie heard Adalia was in trouble, she rushed to the school with Dulce driving her.

Maggie, heavily pregnant, walked towards the school office. Before she even entered, she could hear a child crying and Briana Sullivan's relentless voice.

"Look at what my child has become! What if it leaves a scar? How can your school accept just anyone?"

Maggie entered and saw Briana, who had a good figure but an obviously surgically altered face, holding a chubby boy. Maggie recognized him as Jacob Baker, Adalia's classmate, nicknamed "Little Chubby," and the beloved grandson of a bank president.

Jacob's face and neck were covered in injuries, and there were teeth marks on his hand. He was crying miserably.

Adalia stood in the corner with messy hair, looking tough. She had marks on her neck, dust on her clothes, and her clothes were torn.

Maggie walked up to Adalia and asked, "Adalia, are you hurt?"

Adalia smiled. "Mom, I'm fine. I'm not like Jacob, who only knows how to cry. It's so embarrassing."

Adalia snorted coldly at Jacob.

Since recovering from the kidnapping, Fiorello had sent Adalia to learn Taekwondo. She had become more confident and physically stronger.

Adalia's words made Jacob cry even harder.

Briana snapped at Maggie, "Is this your child? How do you teach her? A girl beating Jacob like this, it's so uncivilized. Do you know who Jacob's grandfather is?"

Briana didn't recognize Maggie. Maggie had only appeared in public with Fiorello once, and her appearance had changed a lot since she got pregnant.

Maggie said coldly, "Ma'am, it doesn't matter who Jacob's grandfather is. When two kids fight, both are responsible. We need to find out what happened first. If my daughter is wrong, I'll teach her a lesson. But if anyone tries to bully my daughter, that's not acceptable."

Before Maggie arrived, the teacher, Sofia Hughes, was in a tough spot. She couldn't afford to offend either child, so she tried to mediate.

Maggie asked Adalia, "What happened? Why did you fight with your classmate?"

"Mom, I started it," Adalia said. "Jacob called me a bastard. I'm not a bastard; I have a mom and dad. I told him to stop, but he didn't, so I hit him. Mom, I'm sorry, I hit him first, but we agreed to a one-on-one fight."

Maggie was shocked and heartbroken. Adalia was being called a bastard at school.

Adalia had parents, so why were her classmates calling her that?

Briana immediately said, "Did you hear that? Your child started it. She's so uncivilized, beating my son like this. You must give me an explanation today."

Maggie ignored Briana and looked at Sofia. "Ms. Hughes, when did these rumors start at the school?"

Sofia said awkwardly, "Ms. Miller, I've heard about this too. I don't know how these things started. Last week, Adalia told me, and I scolded the student who called her that. I thought it was over, but today Adalia fought again."

So, it wasn't the first time someone had called Adalia that.

Maggie looked at Adalia. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Adalia pouted. "This is a matter between us kids. I wanted to handle it myself. Didn't you say that if adults get involved in kids' conflicts, it changes everything? Even if we were right, it would make us wrong."

Maggie had indeed taught her that.

Adalia pointed at Jacob. "Jacob, you're so pathetic. We agreed to a one-on-one fight, and you went to tell the teacher when you couldn't win. I look down on you. I didn't even cry."

Adalia was much smaller than Jacob. Maggie found it incredible that Adalia could make Jacob cry. That Taekwondo training really paid off.

Jacob was about to cry again, but Adalia shouted, "Stop crying, or I'll beat you up every time I see you."

Jacob was intimidated and actually shut up. Maggie was stunned. Dulce couldn't help but laugh. Adalia was really something.

Briana was also shocked. Jacob was bossy at home, but now he was not only beaten by a little girl but also intimidated. Briana poked Jacob's forehead. "Useless."

Jacob pulled Briana. "Mom, let's go home. I won't tattle anymore."

Briana was furious. She didn't want to let it go and said to the teacher, "Ms. Hughes, my son is hurt like this. The school must handle this properly. Either expel Adalia and make her kneel and apologize to my son, or I'll have my father-in-law withdraw his investment. Let's see how your school continues."

Sofia was very helpless. "Mrs. Baker, please calm down. Kids fighting is normal. Let's sit down and calmly resolve the misunderstanding."

Making someone kneel and apologize was too much.

Adalia shouted, "I did nothing wrong. I won't apologize."

Maggie had no intention of making Adalia apologize. If she did, it would be admitting she was wrong and that she was an illegitimate child. How would Adalia get along with her classmates in the future?

Maggie took Adalia's hand and stepped forward, looking at Briana with a cold tone. "An apology is necessary, but it should be your son apologizing to my daughter."

Briana looked as if she had heard wrong and sneered. "Are you kidding? You want my son to apologize? Do you know who my father-in-law is?"

Maggie smirked, "I don't care who your father-in-law is. Your son insulted my daughter, so he must apologize."

Briana looked furious and was about to speak when Sofia quickly pulled her aside and whispered, "Mrs. Baker, this is Mrs. Flores."

Upon hearing this, Briana's arrogance instantly turned into fear and shock. Her gaze towards Maggie changed.

At that moment, Maggie realized that as long as one had power and influence, right and wrong no longer mattered. People were so realistic and sycophantic. One sentence could turn the table.

Briana quickly changed her attitude and smiled. "Mrs. Flores, what a coincidence. This is your daughter? She's so beautiful. I'm Briana, the daughter-in-law of the President of the Baker Bank. Let's add each other on WhatsApp."

People had many faces, but Briana was the first person Maggie had met who could change her face so quickly and adapt to the situation.

In the end, Briana made Jacob apologize to Adalia and didn't ask for any compensation, leaving with a smile. The ending was quite dramatic.

Maggie finally understood that what ordinary people struggled to achieve, a fair resolution or an apology, was just a trivial matter for the wealthy.

After dealing with Briana, Maggie then pursued the source of the rumors. With the school's cooperation, they questioned the students one by one and finally found the source.

The bully started from a boy named Isaac Ross. Maggie personally questioned Isaac and got the truth. Isaac was just a child and couldn't keep secrets. With a little guidance, he revealed everything. "It was my cousin who told me."

Maggie asked, "What's your cousin's name?"
