Chapter 116 Maggie's Counterattack

From being referred to as "that one" to "Maggie," the change in how she was addressed reflected how nobody underestimated Maggie anymore.

Who dared to underestimate someone who could have the chief jewelry designer personally invite her and make Quixote's family's David and George apologize?

People in the workplace were all intelligent.

When Maggie heard that Ms. Cook specifically asked for her, she knew trouble was coming.

Facing the challenge head-on, Maggie didn't hesitate and headed to Selena’s office.

Inside the office, Ms. Cook sat elegantly on the leather sofa, her makeup impeccable, leisurely sipping coffee.

Selena stood beside her. The company's latest popular designs were placed on the table, but none seemed to catch Ms. Cook's eye.

Maggie knocked on the door and then entered, calmly addressing them, "Ms. Cook, Selena."

Seeing Maggie's arrival, Selena felt a sense of satisfaction and said, "Ms. Cook wants us to customize a necklace for her. Maggie, please take care of her."

Selena was eager to pass the hot potato, Ms. Cook, to someone else.

She thought, 'I can't stand Lily, so let Maggie suffer.'

Selena stood up and walked in front of Maggie, lowering her voice and speaking contemptuously, "You've always wanted a chance to prove yourself. Well, your chance is here."

Maggie understood. "Our previous bet still stands."

Maggie knew Selena was pressured by her superiors to invite her back but still looked down on her and wanted to find a way to make her leave voluntarily.

Selena smiled contentedly and then left the office.

Emily was outside the office. Seeing Selena coming out alone, she said, "Selena, don't you think you've gone too far? Maggie is just an intern assistant. You're clearly making things difficult for her."

"Ms. Roberts, how am I making things difficult for her? Everything I'm doing is for the company. Ms. Cook asked for Maggie, and I couldn't refuse," Selena said with a smile. "As a supervisor, I'm giving opportunities to my subordinates. Shouldn't she be grateful to me?"

Emily didn't know how to argue with Selena and could only stare back at her angrily.

Inside the office, Ms. Cook remained silent. She just kept staring at Maggie.

Unperturbed, Maggie calmly sat down and put away all the trendy design templates on the table.

Maggie smiled professionally and said, "Ms. Cook, what kind of necklace would you like to design?"

Ms. Cook crossed her legs and arrogantly said, "I'm hungry and want to eat a swan cake from Lucky Cake in the northern part of the city. Go buy it for me now."

Maggie knew Ms. Cook was deliberately making things difficult for her.

Maggie continued, smiling, "I'm sorry, Ms. Cook, but we don't provide catering services here. Regarding going out to purchase, the company has clear regulations that require obtaining approval from higher-ups, and the process can be a bit cumbersome."

Lily was taken aback and didn't expect Maggie to reject her request.

Angrily, Lily said, "Maggie, I am your client now. The customer is always right. I want to have a cake right now, so go and buy it for me."

Maggie still smiled and replied, "Ms. Cook, you haven't ordered customized jewelry from our company yet, nor have you made any purchases, so you cannot be considered our client."

Upon hearing her words, Lily was stunned.

She thought to herself, 'What kind of logic is this?'

Lily said urgently, "I am a potential client of yours. With your attitude, you still expect me to buy from your company? Dream on."

Lily thought her words would make Maggie scared, but she was surprised to see Maggie stand up directly, as if wanting to leave.

Maggie's unusual behavior puzzled Lily.

"Maggie, where are you going?" Lily called after Maggie. "I am still here. Why are you leaving?"

Maggie turned to look at her and pretended to be confused. "Ms. Cook, didn't you just say that you wouldn't order customized jewelry from our company? Then, of course, I’ll get myself busy with other things. I am very busy."

Lily was at a loss for words for a moment.

After being provoked by Maggie's words, Lily took out a bank card from her bag and said, "Who said I wouldn’t order? This card has two million dollars in it, which is the deposit for the jewelry I ordered from your company."

Maggie smiled and accepted the card, then directly asked, "Ms. Cook, what are your requirements? What kind of necklace do you want?"

Her attitude had changed drastically. When she found out that Lily wasn't going to order jewelry from her company, she immediately wanted to leave. Since Lily wasn't a customer, she didn't need to pay her any attention.

However, as soon as she heard that Lily wanted to order jewelry from her company, Maggie immediately smiled and spoke to her in a very friendly manner.

Now Lily finally realized that she had been played and felt extremely angry.
