Chapter 370 Tommy is Missing
Arya quickly asked, "Is it Susan's son who's missing?"
Susan had just gotten out of jail for abusing Adalia, and it hadn't been long since her release.
The older woman replied, "Yes, he went missing this morning. It's been two hours, and we still haven't found him."
Mark came over and asked, "Whose kid is missing?"
Arya glanced at Adalia playing on the slide nearby and said, "The kid from the family that used to foster Adalia."
A missing child in the community naturally drew a lot of attention.
A concerned lady from the neighborhood said, "It's all Susan's fault. The kid is so young, and she took him to the poker room. She was so focused on playing poker that she didn't watch him. She didn't even know when he went missing."
Others gathered around. "That woman is really no good. It's a pity for the kid. You can't take a child to play poker."
"Exactly."
"It's been two hours already. I'm afraid he won't be found."
"I just saw the kid's father searching the streets frantically."
The loss of his child left Alan devastated. Tommy was his reason for striving, and now that he was missing, he felt like his world had collapsed.
The police came to take statements and asked about the situation at the time of the incident.
When Tommy went missing, Alan wasn't home; he was out working. He hadn't gone to work for a long time, and the family was running out of money.
Susan had just gotten out of jail the day before, and Alan went to work the next day.
He had left Tommy in Susan's care, and within two days, he was missing.
Facing the police's questions, Susan could only cry and couldn't explain clearly. She kept repeating, "I don't know. I was playing poker. I asked the owner to watch Tommy. I don't know when he went missing."
Thinking Tommy went missing because Susan was playing poker, Alan was furious. He picked up a chair and smashed it.
"Susan, give me back my son! I asked you to stay home and take care of him, and you went to play poker. Can't you live without playing poker? You better find my son!"
Alan was usually a quiet man and rarely got angry. His sudden outburst scared Susan. The police quickly intervened to mediate the couple's conflict and promised to find Tommy as soon as possible.
As soon as the police left, Alan dragged Susan into the bedroom and started beating her.
The loss of Tommy made Alan lose his mind, and he punched and kicked Susan.
The entire building could hear Susan's screams, but no one intervened.
Everyone thought Susan deserved the punishment. She had beaten Adalia so badly before, and now it was time for her to be taught a lesson.
Susan's screams lasted a long time. Alan, still furious, grabbed a kitchen knife.
Seeing Alan with the knife, Susan was terrified and ran outside.
"Murder! Help!"
Susan was in a panic, shouting for help as she ran, her voice changing from fear.
No one dared to come out and help since Alan had a knife.
Alan chased Susan around the apartment. Residents poked their heads out of windows to watch, and Susan's piercing screams echoed through the building.
Adults quickly brought their children inside. Arya hurriedly took Adalia home, and Mark took the opportunity to follow them upstairs.
Alan cursed behind Susan, "You bitch! I told you not to play poker. I'm going to cut off your hand today."
In the end, Susan couldn't outrun him and got slashed on the arm.
Holding her bleeding arm, Susan sat on the ground crying and yelled at Alan, "Go cut Maggie, Alan! It's not my fault Tommy is missing. It's because Maggie took Adalia that our son got into trouble."
Alan remembered what the master had said before, that Tommy's fate was tied to Adalia's.
Alan was extremely agitated, his chest heaving violently. He gripped the knife tightly, his eyes bloodshot and terrifying.
