Chapter 760 Let's Go See the Peach Blossoms Together
Maggie knew that Melissa was not a foolish person.
A hint of doubt crossed Maggie's mind, and she asked, "Dad, have you met him? What's the man's name?"
"Never met him, just know that Melissa keeps him in a villa outside. Girls grow up, get more thoughts, and a gigolo says a few words, and they believe it," Mark said angrily. "I don't bother with those siblings anymore. I'm so old now, I don't want to manage them. Anyway, you're now the head of Visionary Futures Group. Having a good daughter like you is enough for me."
Mark had been angry before, but after Arya's guidance, he had come to terms with it.
The main thing was that Maggie was now in power. Being called Ms. Flores' father carried more weight than being Mr. Jackson of the Jackson Group.
Maggie was quite curious about the person advising Melissa from behind the scenes.
She didn't know why, but hearing about this person made her want to learn more, and she couldn't help but ask more questions.
"Dad, the person Melissa hired might actually be capable. He has a strong sense of business acumen," Maggie said. "Fiorello has always been involved in the new energy sector. Now I've taken over this project. If it succeeds, it will not only make Visionary Futures Group stronger but also earn a lot of money and benefit humanity."
Mark was surprised, "Is there really a future in the new energy sector?"
To Mark, Fiorello's decisions were always right.
Maggie nodded, "But new energy is very financially demanding. Without advanced technology and funding, it's hard to scale up. Even if we develop something, we can only sell the patents, and even one patent can earn a lot of money."
Maggie's words made Mark interested, "So Melissa is really focusing on her career? I thought she just kept a gigolo."
Mark had never seen the person Melissa kept outside, only heard a bit from Timothy.
As they were talking, Adalia came downstairs after her class.
Seeing that Maggie hadn't left, Adalia happily sat next to Maggie, hugged her arm, and snuggled up to her: [Mom, I thought you had left.]
"Mom stayed to have lunch with you," Maggie gently stroked Adalia's forehead and said, "You've changed so much, you're almost grown up."
When Maggie first met Adalia, she was only four years old and very small due to malnutrition. Now she was over seven, and these three years had passed so quickly.
In these three years, Maggie had experienced a lot. She fell in love with Fiorello, had a child, but was then manipulated by Kimberly and Jenny into having a miscarriage.
Adalia smiled and gestured: [Mom, when will you bring my little brother and sister? I miss them.]
"When Mom is not so busy this weekend, I'll bring your brother and sister over," Maggie said. She had been really busy lately, too busy to take care of everything.
Eleanor's temperament was getting stranger, and even Maggie was often excluded. When it came to matters concerning the two babies, as their mother, she could hardly see them.
Eleanor was Fiorello's biological mother, so what could Maggie do?
Given the current situation of the Flores family, Maggie could only endure it. Otherwise, the family would never have peace. She had to accompany Eleanor through this difficult time.
On the bright side, Eleanor took good care of the two children, and Maggie herself was very busy and couldn't manage everything.
After thinking it through, Maggie no longer minded what Eleanor said.
In a family, there was no right or wrong, what was needed was tolerance and understanding.
But she wouldn't let Adalia be excluded by Eleanor.
Adalia nodded happily: [This weekend, let's go see the peach blossoms. Dulce said she wants to see them, too.]
Maggie asked, "When did your godmother come over?"
Arya walked over and smiled, "Dulce came over yesterday and told Adalia she would take her to see the peach blossoms. It's spring now, so it's good to go out for a walk."
Francis had asked Dulce out, and Dulce felt awkward, so she was conflicted and thought of bringing Adalia along, hoping it might ease the atmosphere at a critical moment.
Maggie said, "Alright, let's go see the peach blossoms this weekend."
She remembered that last winter, Fiorello had told her that when spring came, he would take her to see the peach blossoms.
He had promised her many things, but could no longer fulfill them.
Just then, Maggie's phone rang. It was Brian calling.
Brian had been in San Diego looking for Fiorello's whereabouts. Maggie thought there might be news, so she quickly answered the call.
