Chapter 54 Boyfriend Power Overload
In Maggie's memory, Fiorello was always a gentle gentleman, courteous and composed. He had never lost his temper like this, let alone become physical.
The moment Fiorello lashed out, Maggie's heart skipped a beat. That feeling of being protected was genuinely wonderful.
At this moment, Fiorello was oozing boyfriend charm.
Samwise stood up, staggering a few steps, raised his hand to touch the blood at the corner of his mouth, spat out a mouthful of blood and teeth into his palm.
Getting beaten up in public was bad enough, but in front of Maggie, his damn pride made Samwise seethe with anger.
Clutching his teeth, Samwise sneered at Fiorello, "Laying hands on someone, all of this is evidence. You just wait for the court summons. I'm going to make sure you can't stay in the capital."
Samwise ran a law firm, and now that Fiorello had hit him, if he actually decided to sue, Fiorello would indeed be in trouble.
Maggie couldn't help but worry about Fiorello. For small-timers like them, a lawsuit was the last thing they wanted, especially when Samwise was a lawyer himself – it would surely be a disadvantage for them.
Maggie was also infuriated, "Samwise, how can you be so shameless?"
Fiorello chuckled, his aura intimidating, his eyes sharp and filled with menace.
He advanced on Samwise, who felt a shiver run down his spine and instinctively stepped back, only to be grabbed by the collar by Fiorello.
"You're a disgrace to men." Fiorello, gripping Samwise's collar, yanked him forcefully against the side of Samwise's Maybach parked nearby.
Fiorello gave the luxurious Maybach worth over a million dollars a cold glance. Samwise struggled vigorously but Fiorello pinned him tightly against the car, immobilizing him.
"Is this what you call the spirit of a man? Renting cars, renting mansions? I didn't want to lay a hand on you, but you asked for it – you're trash and you belong in the trash can."
Fiorello exposed Samwise's hypocrisy. In that moment, Samwise felt as if he was stripped bare, humiliated.
The disgrace, the shame, the hatred grew wildly within him.
Always arrogant, Samwise could not bear such humiliation.
How did Fiorello find out about his rented cars and mansions?
Samwise's eyes were bloodshot, and he forcefully tried to yank his hand away from Fiorello. "You've just got brute courage, you’re nothing but a low-level worker bee who will never make it big. Offend me, and you're looking at jail time. If you beg for mercy now, you might still have a chance…"
Fiorello punched Samwise again, this time with even more force.
"Fiorello." Maggie's heart was in her throat, not out of concern for Samwise, but because she was worried about Fiorello facing retaliation.
Fiorello glanced at Maggie, then grabbed Samwise and tossed him into a nearby trash can. "This is where you belong. Use whatever revenge tactics you have. Whatever Maggie's past, she is my wife now, and I will not let anyone slander her without consequence."
After dropping those words, Fiorello took Maggie's hand with a commanding presence and walked past Samwise toward the movie theater in the plaza.
Humiliated and furious, Samwise climbed out of the trash can. Noticing a security camera at the entrance of the restaurant, a sinister gleam crossed his eyes.
He was determined to have Fiorello arrested, to make him pay a hefty sum, to force him to leave the capital, and to make Fiorello regret his actions today.
Samwise wasn't from the upper echelons of society, and there were many people with the surname Flores. Having seen Fiorello driving a beat-up car worth just over twenty grand last time, he hadn't realized that Fiorello was someone he shouldn't have messed with.
Fiorello didn't pay him any mind, leading Maggie to the movie theater and even buying popcorn and coffee.
"We made it just in time, no delays," Fiorello said, handing the popcorn to Maggie. "Do you like it?"
Seeing Fiorello act as if nothing had happened, Maggie was frantic with worry. "You just hit Samwise, and he has a background in law. What if he sues you? Could you go to jail for this? It's all my fault."
Seeing her anxious, Fiorello chuckled and tousled her hair, "Don't worry, every country has its laws. Samwise harassed you first, and as your husband, it's my right to defend us. It's called self-defense."
Arya was worried, "It's not that simple. We don't know the law, and Samwise does this for a living. If he gets a medical examination and sues us, we're definitely at a disadvantage. If you get involved in a lawsuit, it could affect your future."
