Chapter 236 Announcing Adalia's Identity

Fiorello seemed to understand women's minds well and handled things appropriately.

Maggie went to take a bath, put on the blue dress, and applied some lipstick to look livelier.

While Maggie was getting ready, the restaurant had already delivered the food.

Dulce was the first to arrive, bringing gifts and smiling. "Maggie, Auntie Arya, may you both be healthy in the future," she said, offering a basket of oranges.

With Fiorello's wealth, there was no need for anything extravagant. Buying oranges was the most practical; they could have a couple after dinner.

Maggie took them with a smile. "Thank you. When did you become so polite? You used to come empty-handed."

Arya also said, "Exactly. Don't bother buying things in the future; just come as you are."
Dulce glanced at Fiorello and joked. "This time Fiorello personally invited me, so I couldn't come empty-handed. Next time, I won't buy anything. These oranges are so sweet. Have a taste."
Maggie glanced at Fiorello, who shrugged as if Dulce had "set him up". Dulce took a few oranges and shared them with everyone, including the best two for Adalia. "Adalia, Auntie brought you oranges; say 'Auntie' to me."
Adalia sweetly said, "Auntie."
"Such a sweet little mouth." Dulce smiled and pinched Adalia's cheek.
While they were chatting, Eleanor and the others also arrived.
When the doorbell rang, Fiorello went to open the door and was momentarily stunned to see three people standing outside.
The extra person was none other than Fiorello's father, Joseph Flores.
Eleanor lowered her voice and chuckled. "Your dad is home today. He heard we were coming over for dinner, so he came along."
Inside the house, Maggie noticed that the others hadn't entered yet and walked over with a smile. "Fiorello, what are you standing there for? Let Auntie Eleanor and the others come in and sit down."
As Maggie approached, she realized there was a person at the door whom she didn't recognize.
Fiorello introduced. "This is Eleanor's husband."
It was a good day today, so let's keep up the pretense for now.
Once someone told a lie, it took countless other lies to hide it. Maggie immediately respectfully called out, "Uncle Flores, please come in and have a seat."
It had been several months since their son's wedding, and this was Joseph's first visit here.
In Joseph's mind, it should have been his son bringing his wife to meet him first, not the other way around.
But months had passed, and Fiorello seemed to be enjoying life with his wife outside. He didn't come home pretending to be poor. He only came in person.
Adopting an air of seniority, Joseph entered the house and first glanced around, whispering to Eleanor, "This place is too small. Even the living room at home is bigger than this house."
Eleanor discreetly pinched Joseph. "Watch your words. If you mess up this meal, you'll be sleeping in the study from now on."
Joseph remarked, "I feel sorry for Maggie. How can they live in such a small house? Despite their long marriage, they haven't even held a wedding. "
"Alright. Fiorello has his own ideas. Having a daughter-in-law is better than being alone," Eleanor interjected.
Joseph said angrily, "Fiorello is worse off with a wife. Getting married means losing both parents. "
This comment amused Eleanor. "That's indeed something wrong."
Biological parents had become aunts and uncles.
If it weren't for fear of scaring off Maggie, Eleanor would have wanted to smack Fiorello long ago.
Maggie called out loudly, "Uncle Joseph, Auntie Eleanor, let's sit down and eat."
"Coming, coming," Eleanor said, taking Joseph to the dining room to sit down.
The dining room was a bit small, with seven adults and a child. It was crowded, and there weren't enough chairs. Maggie brought over a stool, and everyone squeezed in to sit together.
Joseph had never experienced such a crowded meal before, but out of respect for his eldest son, he dared not say a word and just sat there.
Once everyone was seated, Fiorello looked at Joseph and asked, "Would you like some wine?"
Joseph replied, "I must have some."
It was a given that he had to drink wine on his first visit to his son's place for dinner.
Maggie stood up. "I'll go get the wine."
Soon enough, Maggie brought the wine, and Fiorello personally poured a glass for Joseph. Holden chuckled. "I'll have some too."
"You'll be driving later, so no alcohol for you. Have this." Fiorello placed a bottle of juice in front of Holden.
Holden could only resign himself to drinking juice.
Everyone drank what they were supposed to, whether it was wine or other beverages.
Fiorello raised his glass, glanced at Adalia, and said to everyone, "Today, while everyone is here, I have something to announce. From now on, Adalia will be Maggie and my daughter, renamed Grace Flores."
