Dulcinea picked up the ringing phone. Maggie, on the other end, heard Dulcinea's voice but was at a loss for words. "Maggie? Maggie?" Dulcinea's voice echoed through the receiver. "What's the matter? Why are you calling at this ungodly hour and remaining silent? Has Fiorello done something to upset you?" "Hmm!" Maggie responded in a soft murmur. Dulcinea's concern flared up instantly, "Maggie, tell me what happened? How did he upset you? I'm on my way to the beauty salon, but I can detour and come to you." Dulcinea was a woman of action. A mere twenty minutes later, the doorbell echoed through Maggie's house. Maggie answered the door, her gait noticeably odd due to the intense activity earlier.As Dulcinea stepped inside, she immediately noticed Maggie's peculiar walk and jumped to the conclusion that Maggie had been physically abused. She asked anxiously, "Maggie, did Fiorello hit you? Is he violent?""He didn't hit me," Maggie replied fearfully, worried that Dulcinea might call the police on Fiorello.
