Chapter 96 The Unveiling of Maggie’s Secret
Dulcinea picked up the ringing phone. Maggie, on the other end, heard Dulcinea's voice but was at a loss for words. "Maggie? Maggie?" Dulcinea's voice echoed through the receiver. "What's the matter? Why are you calling at this ungodly hour and remaining silent? Has Fiorello done something to upset you?" "Hmm!" Maggie responded in a soft murmur. Dulcinea's concern flared up instantly, "Maggie, tell me what happened? How did he upset you? I'm on my way to the beauty salon, but I can detour and come to you." Dulcinea was a woman of action. A mere twenty minutes later, the doorbell echoed through Maggie's house. Maggie answered the door, her gait noticeably odd due to the intense activity earlier. As Dulcinea stepped inside, she immediately noticed Maggie's peculiar walk and jumped to the conclusion that Maggie had been physically abused. She asked anxiously, "Maggie, did Fiorello hit you? Is he violent?""He didn't hit me," Maggie replied fearfully, worried that Dulcinea might call the police on Fiorello. She hesitated before confessing, "Dulce, I...there was no blood."Dulcinea, momentarily distracted, didn't immediately grasp the meaning and asked loudly, "What do you mean?""It's...that," Maggie said, her cheeks flushing.Understanding dawned on Dulcinea, and she exclaimed joyfully, "Maggie, you had sex with Fiorello!"Maggie nodded in confirmation, and Dulcinea burst out, "I knew it! With your beauty, how could he resist? You've got Fiorello now, your position is secure. I can finally stop worrying."Dulcinea had invested a great deal of effort in bringing the two together, so hearing they had finally taken the next step was a relief.Fiorello was now committed to Maggie, and there was no turning back for him.Maggie's position as Mrs. Flores was also secure. If they were to have children in the future, no one could challenge Maggie's standing.Maggie, however, didn't grasp the underlying meaning of Dulcinea's words. Seeing Dulcinea even more jubilant than herself left her slightly puzzled. Her mind returning to the issue of the missing blood, Maggie voiced her concern, "Dulce, isn't there supposed to be bleeding the first time? But I didn't bleed. Would Fiorello misunderstand?"Dulcinea suddenly realized she had overlooked this detail."You didn't bleed. How did Fiorello react?"Maggie recalled Fiorello's reaction and said, "There was no reaction. He showered, then came over and kissed me before leaving for work."Hearing that Fiorello had shown no reaction, Dulcinea too felt a pang of unease. What did Fiorello's nonchalance imply? Was he not bothered? In this modern era, past relationships were common. If one desired a virgin, they would likely have to groom them from a young age. Did Fiorello not have any past relationships? It was easy to accept such a reality in this day and age. Thus, Dulcinea reassured Maggie, "Maggie, not everyone bleeds their first time. This has been medically proven. If Fiorello didn't react, it means he thinks it's normal. So don't overthink it."Maggie had already researched the matter and found that this scenario was indeed possible. However, the lack of bleeding could lead to misunderstandings.Maggie still harbored doubts, so she relayed to Dulcinea what Samwise had previously insinuated."Last time, Samwise accused me out of the blue of dropping out of school because of another man and said some rather offensive things, which led to Fiorello punching him."Dulcinea's heart skipped a beat. How did Samwise know?Years ago, when Maggie had dropped out of school, it was indeed because of another man, a man whose identity remained a mystery even to Maggie. It was with this unknown man that Maggie had lost her virginity.Several years prior, after Samwise had gone abroad to study and Arya was involved in a car accident, requiring money for surgery and subsequent treatment, Maggie had taken up a part-time job at a club with her classmates to make ends meet.During that period, someone had drugged and taken advantage of Maggie. When she woke up, her memory was a blank slate, with no recollection of the incident. It wasn't until her belly began to swell that she discovered the truth, but by then, it was already too late.
