Chapter 317 Arya's Big Move
Holden's expression was more than just hesitant. He stammered, "Maggie, you..."
Maggie felt speechless. "Speak properly."
Holden steeled himself and said, "Maggie, you cheated on Fiorello. This is just too..."
"Too what?" A voice suddenly sounded from behind. Holden turned around and saw it was Fiorello. His eyes widened in surprise and joy. "Fiorello, it's you! I thought Maggie was cheating on you!"
Both of them felt speechless.
Fiorello smacked Holden on the back of the head and said, "I think you want to go to the desert."
Maggie grabbed her breakfast and said, "I'm going next door to see my mom. I'll leave you two to chat."
Holden waved with a smile and said, "Take care, Maggie. Don't be mad about what I said earlier."
This was Maggie. She couldn't be offended.
Maggie didn't respond. She didn't hold a grudge against Holden.
After Maggie left, Fiorello sat down to eat breakfast and asked, "What's the situation now?"
Maggie hadn't mentioned anything to Fiorello about Ashley's schemes.
Holden spilled everything vividly and excitedly, "Fiorello, Maggie's biological dad and stepmom are truly evil. Last night, they hired someone to kidnap Maggie and extract her bone marrow to save their own daughter. It's outrageous. You have to help Maggie."
Hearing this, Fiorello felt a pang of heartache and deep guilt. No wonder he had startled her when he snuck in last night.
Fiorello asked in a low voice, "Do you have any evidence?"
"I recorded everything on video." Holden took out his phone, opened the video, and played it for Fiorello. "High-definition. It's solid evidence."
As Fiorello listened to Ashley's plotting against Maggie in the video, a sharp glint flashed in his eyes. He said seriously, "Maggie has other plans in mind."
Maggie hadn't called the police and kept the evidence, so she must have a scheme.
Holden asked, "Fiorello, what do we do next? Should we just reveal the Flores family's identity? The Jackson family wouldn't dare plot against Maggie then."
"You stay here and follow Maggie's lead. Brian lives across the street. He's in charge of Maggie's safety. I have an appointment with Celeste from BrightWave Technologies Inc. today, so I'll be out for a while."
Fiorello didn't adopt Holden's suggestion. Maggie was the decision-maker on this matter.
Maggie took her breakfast and went to the next room for Arya, who was already getting dressed and putting on makeup in the bathroom mirror. Maggie was quite curious.
Maggie asked, "Mom, do you have a date today?"
After all these years, it was rare to see Arya dress up.
"Your dad called me early this morning to invite me to a movie," Arya said energetically, "Maggie, in the past, I didn't ask for much but was deceived time and again. This time, I won't be foolish again. I will make Mark repay for what he has owed us."
Maggie didn't stop her, leaning against the bathroom door, saying, "Mom, what are you planning to do?"
"Your dad thinks I know nothing, so I'll pretend to know nothing." Arya applied lipstick and asked, "Maggie, does this color look good?"
Arya had never done skincare. Even though she was good-looking, her skin had deteriorated, and makeup didn't have much effect.
Over the years, Arya had done hard labor and she overworked. With a ring of fat around her waist, her figure was out of shape.
Maggie felt deep sorrow for her. She tried to recall Arya's youthful appearance, but it had long since blurred.
To make Arya happy, Maggie smiled and said, "It looks good. When my mom dresses up, she definitely looks great."
Arya smiled and said, "That's good. Maggie, help me with my hair. Make it curly, big waves, beautiful."
"Okay." Maggie used a curling iron to style Arya's hair, giving it a blowout. She then changed into new clothes, looking quite good.
Mark's call had already come through. Maggie said, "Mom, have some breakfast before you go."
"From now on, I'll let your dad pay for these meals." Arya had come to terms with it. After suffering for so many years, she wanted Mark to pay back a bit.
Maggie couldn't help but laugh and cry. She hadn't told Arya about what happened last night and personally escorted her out of the hotel.
Mark was waiting at the hotel entrance. He drove a Mercedes, dressed in a suit, who looked very much like he was going on a date.
Maggie walked Arya to the hotel entrance but didn't go any further. Mark reached out to greet her, but she pretended not to see him and turned back inside.
Mark awkwardly retracted his hand and smiled as he opened the car door for Arya. "Arya, I already bought the movie tickets. Your favorite actor starred in the movie."
Arya got into the car and said, "I don't want to see a movie anymore. It's cool now. Let's go shopping. I want to buy some clothes."
Arya had never actively asked to buy anything before, and Mark was momentarily stunned.
Arya glanced at him and asked, "What's wrong? Are you busy?"
"No." Mark smiled. "It's my fault for not thinking it through. I should have taken you shopping for new clothes earlier. Let's go. Just buy whatever you want today."
Mark was being polite. He didn't think Arya would actually ask him to buy anything.
However, reality proved Mark wrong.
Arya went all out this time, buying clothes in bulk and even getting many outfits for Maggie, all of which were famous brands.
Arya didn't recognize the brands; she just picked the expensive ones, as long as she could squander Mark's money.
After buying clothes, Arya went into a jewelry store, picked out a set of jewelry, and bought a diamond ring and a pearl necklace.
Arya bought everything in pairs, one for herself and one for Maggie. Mark didn't dare to object and could only silently pay.
Mark accompanied Arya shopping around, buying jewelry and accessories, and Ashley soon received a tip-off call. She was also a VIP customer at these jewelry stores, and someone reported to her.
When Ashley learned that Mark had bought Arya jewelry worth millions of dollars, she immediately called Mark in a rage.
Mark didn't dare to answer the call and could only silently put his phone on silent mode.
Arya noticed Mark's nerve but pretended to ignore it. She smiled and said, "Mark, I think the air in London is great. This city is very suitable for living. You mentioned buying a house for Maggie before. I have some free time today. Let's go take a look and maybe add some furniture."
Hearing this, Mark was delighted. "Arya, are you and Maggie planning to settle in London?"
"I have that in mind," Arya had become smarter and didn't give a clear answer. She was just keeping Mark in suspense.
Hearing this, Mark seized the opportunity and said, "Arya, if you and Maggie really settle in London, I would be thrilled. She is smart. I plan to have her help out in the company."
Arya pretended to cooperate and replied, "That would be great. I've mentioned this to Maggie. I hope the three of us can always be together."
Arya was implying that Mark should divorce Ashley.
Mark wasn't foolish. He understood the implication but couldn't respond to it.
He couldn't divorce Ashley. Ashley's family could support the company, while Arya couldn't help with anything.
Mark pretended not to understand and smiled. "Arya, I share the same wish as you for the family to be harmonious. Shall we look at more jewelry and clothes?"
"Let's go on shopping. I saw some furniture over there. Let's go take a look," Arya said, "I'll buy the furniture for Maggie's new house, so she won't have anything to complain about."
"That's a good idea." Mark laughed. "Let's go take a look."
The two went to the nearby furniture section. Arya only looked at the expensive items: tables costing about ten thousand dollars, and beds costing twenty thousand dollars.
Mark watched from the side, feeling a bit of heartache but unable to show it.
Arya hadn't been looking for long when she noticed a familiar figure entering the store.
"Arya, you shameless woman, why do you bring my husband to buy furniture?" Ashley had arrived.
