Chapter 400 Turn The Tables

Two results, one must be wrong.

Fiorello got serious and asked, "Maggie, what happened when you tested with Emily? How did you find her?"

Maggie thought back. "I was home when Gavin from the orphanage called. He said they found the child and asked me to come over. I met Emily, took her hair for the test, and Dulce was with me. The testing place is reputable; there shouldn't be mistakes."

"They might've bribed the lab," Fiorello said, tapping the table and glancing at the sleeping Adalia. "Maggie, what's your plan?"

Maggie got it. "Who would bribe the lab? Why?"

She was puzzled.

"Could it be Jenny again?" she wondered.

Jenny had caused trouble before, so Maggie suspected her.

Fiorello said calmly, "If we want to know who did it, it's simple."

Maggie frowned. "You mean make the test result with Adalia public."

"The person behind this probably didn't expect you to test with Adalia and find out she's your daughter," Fiorello said. "Send Emily back, and the person behind this will show themselves."

Fiorello then told Brian, "Check on Gavin from the orphanage. See who he's been in contact with recently. Start with him."

"Yes, Mr. Flores," Brian said and left to investigate.

Maggie looked at the paternity test result with Adalia, feeling joy. "Adalia is really my daughter. She's been with me all along."

But she also felt guilty and heartbroken.

This was her daughter, and she didn't know it. Thinking about Susan's attitude towards Adalia made her even sadder.

She blamed herself for not bringing Adalia to her sooner.

She had forgotten her daughter, letting Adalia suffer.

Maggie's eyes reddened, and she held Adalia's small hand, tears falling.

"Fiorello, Adalia is my daughter. She really is," Maggie said, her voice choked with emotion, tears streaming down her face.

"Now you can be at ease," Fiorello said. "When Adalia is discharged, we can live happily as a family."

Adalia woke up, saw Maggie crying, and wiped her tears. "Mommy, don't cry. I don't hurt."

These words made Maggie cry even more.

She hugged Adalia tightly. "Adalia, I am Mommy. I really am. I'm sorry. I forgot you, made you an orphan, and let you suffer. It's all my fault."

Adalia didn't understand. To her, Maggie was Mommy.

She didn't get the difference between a biological mom and an adopted mom.

Adalia patted Maggie's back with her small hand, her voice innocent. "Mommy is the best. I love Mommy the most, and Daddy too."

In Adalia's heart, Mommy and Daddy were one. Loving Mommy meant loving Daddy too.

"Sweetheart," Maggie said emotionally, kissing Adalia's face. "I love you too."

Arya came to deliver food and was happy to hear the test result.

Arya hugged Adalia, feeling guilty. "It's my fault for being so foolish back then."

She had sent Adalia away to avoid burdening Maggie, hoping the kid would find a good family. She didn't know Adalia would suffer.

If she had known Adalia would be adopted by a family like Susan's and be abused, she would never have abandoned her.

Adalia was confused by Arya's reaction. She didn't know why Arya and Maggie were apologizing.

After calming down, Arya asked, "Maggie, what about Emily? Should we send her back?"

Maggie said, "I'll call Paul and explain."

Emily was stubborn, and Maggie worried she wouldn't accept it easily.

Emily was already cold and ruthless, willing to do anything to achieve her goals. It would be bad if she went astray.

But Maggie had to make this call. She also had to find out who was causing trouble.
