Chapter 706 Is He Getting Married?
Dulce was also feeling uneasy; she knew Francis was watching her.
Suddenly, the apple peel in her hand broke.
Dulce switched sides and continued peeling, saying, "Should I cut it into small pieces for you?"
Francis responded, "Sure."
Dulce cut the apple into small pieces, placed them on a plate, and handed it to him.
As Francis took the plate, he suddenly said, "Dulce, I'll sort things out with Wendy as soon as possible."
Sort things out?
Dulce looked up at him. What did he mean by that?
Was he getting married?
Was he informing her that he was getting married?
Dulce didn't dare to ask directly. Just as Francis was about to speak, Brianna ran in again. "Francis, when is my mom coming? I'm hungry."
Francis swallowed his words and handed the apple to Brianna. "Here, have some apple to tide you over."
"Okay." Brianna took the apple.
Dulce said, "Francis, should I peel another one for you?"
"No need," Francis said. "Dulce, I'm getting discharged next Monday. Are you free?"
That day was Valentine's Day. Was he planning to marry Wendy on Valentine's Day?
She wasn't magnanimous enough to attend her ex-boyfriend's wedding.
Dulce lied casually, "Unfortunately, a friend invited me to Emberwood that day. The tickets and hotel are already booked."
Francis instinctively asked, "Is it a guy or a girl?"
"It's someone my mom introduced to me a few days ago. He was so enthusiastic that I couldn't refuse. I figured I might as well go to Emberwood for a bit," Dulce said with a smile. "If things go well, we might get engaged when we return from Emberwood. Both our parents are quite satisfied."
Dulce admired her ability to make up stories.
Francis had planned to sort things out with Wendy before Valentine's Day and then pursue Dulce again.
Hearing that Dulce already had someone, Francis didn't say anything more.
"Alright," Francis said. "When looking at a man, the first thing to consider is his sense of responsibility, not just his looks."
Dulce smiled, "Of course, responsibility is what a man should have."
Dulce didn't mean anything by it, but Francis felt a bit guilty, feeling sorry for Dulce.
It was because of the word "responsibility" that he had always felt obligated to the Gray family and to Wendy. The Gray family made him feel he had to make a choice.
To repay their kindness, he had to give up a lot.
If he didn't comply with the Gray family's wishes, he would be accused of being ungrateful.
A few days ago, his superiors at the office had also subtly asked when he and Wendy would settle down.
Everyone thought he should be with Wendy, and thinking of Brianna made him reluctant as well.
All sorts of responsibilities bound him.
Dulce glanced at the time. "I should get going. I have plans to go shopping with a friend this afternoon. Since he's still in the evaluation phase, I need to evaluate him properly."
This time, Francis couldn't find the words to ask her to stay.
Dulce got up to leave. As she opened the door, she ran into Wendy standing at the entrance.
She didn't know how long Wendy had been there and didn't care. She brushed past Wendy and left directly.
She vaguely heard Wendy say to Francis, "Next Monday is a good day. My dad said it's settled."
Dulce didn't hear the rest.
So, he really was going to marry Wendy on that day.
