Chapter 592 Have Another Child
The police followed the clues and retrieved surveillance footage from around the hotel to see if they could track the doll person.
They actually found something. After leaving the hotel, the doll person kept walking west until they reached an area without surveillance. Further footage from nearby cameras showed no trace of them.
Surveillance couldn't cover every corner of the city; there are always dark places where light can't reach.
The trail went cold again.
Maggie didn't lose hope. Having a clue was better than having nothing at all.
Now it was certain that someone had taken Adalia, but the motive remained unknown.
Maggie kept wondering whether the target was her or Fiorello.
She went over the people she had offended. Besides Jenny, she couldn't think of anyone else.
But the police said Jenny wasn't a strong suspect.
Maggie racked her brain, pacing back and forth in her room after returning home.
Fiorello was worried that Maggie was too stressed and might have a breakdown. He tried to comfort her, "The person who took Adalia didn't have a clear motive. She should be fine. Let's wait a bit longer."
"If they didn't ask for money, they might be after her life," Maggie said urgently. "Fiorello, we can't wait any longer. Every second we wait, Adalia's danger increases."
"The police have already started a thorough search. Without more clues, there's nothing they can do," Fiorello said, equally anxious. According to their plan, he was supposed to take Maggie on their honeymoon. Now, the whole house was shrouded in a heavy atmosphere, making it hard to breathe.
"I have to find Adalia," Maggie said, agitated, running her hands through her hair in distress. "What does the person who took Adalia want?"
Fiorello sat across from Maggie in silence. He had done everything he could and couldn't comfort her any further.
Time passed slowly, the tension like a heavy stone pressing on Fiorello and Maggie's chests, threatening to drive them mad.
Fiorello had to manage Maggie's emotions while also taking care of the company, leaving him overwhelmed.
Visionary Futures Group had developed a new project, but he didn't have time to oversee it, so he handed it over to Holden. Meanwhile, under Kyle's arrangement, Jenny had approached Holden under the alias Christina.
The Holmes family and the Flores family had been close for generations, and Jenny and Holden had practically grown up together. Jenny knew Holden well and easily gained his trust.
Holden was unaware of the approaching danger, caught in the trap Jenny had set.
Maggie had no mind for designing anymore; her world revolved around finding her child.
Arya was also very upset, and Eleanor thought this couldn't go on. She privately advised Fiorello to have another child with Maggie. A child could drive someone mad, but it could also save them.
With Adalia missing, the only thing that could pull Maggie out of the abyss was having another child.
Fiorello frowned deeply. "Mom, Maggie is in no condition to have a child right now, and she hurt her body back then."
"How do you know if you don't try? What if it works?" Eleanor urged. "Do you want to watch Maggie sink into despair? When will it end? You have a long life ahead of you."
Everyone knew that with Adalia still missing, the chances of her being alive were slim.
But without a body, Maggie refused to believe it, clinging to a sliver of hope.
Fiorello smoked a cigarette and said, "We'll take it as it comes. I'll assign more people to look for Adalia. I refuse to believe a living person can disappear."
They would dig three feet into the ground if they had to, but they would find her.
Eleanor sighed. "I just feel so bad for Maggie. She's lost so much weight. Time is the best healer. I hope Maggie can move on."
Fiorello forced a smile. "Fate always seems to target those who suffer. Maggie has lost two children. Seeing her dazed every day feels like a knife to my heart."
"Yes," Eleanor said. "Adalia was a smart child but had a tough life. She didn't have a good time with Alan and his wife either."
