Chapter 666 Playing Innocent

Wendy was very good at understanding Dulce's psychology. She kept talking about her own difficulties, making it hard for Dulce to speak too harshly.

If Wendy had forcefully demanded that Dulce leave Francis, Dulce would have become rebellious and definitely argued with Wendy.

Dulce's tone softened a bit, "Wendy, I'm not trying to steal Francis from you. He confessed to me himself. He's my boyfriend now."

The implication was that she wouldn't let go, but her tone wasn't as forceful.

Wendy said pitifully, "Miss Quixote, you're so beautiful and capable, you can find someone better. But I only have Francis. My daughter, Edward's parents, we all rely on Francis. He's the pillar of our family, and I love him too. Miss Quixote, please let me have Francis. Without him, our family can't go on."

"Even if Francis is with me, he will still continue to help you. He owes you, and he will repay," Dulce said reluctantly. "Wendy, feelings can't be given away."

Wendy's eyes instantly reddened, tears welling up. Seeing Wendy like this, Dulce felt a sense of guilt, as if she had bullied Wendy.

"Wendy, don't cry," Dulce couldn't stand seeing someone cry.

Wendy wiped her tears, her voice choked with sobs, "Miss Quixote, you're forcing me to die. Without Francis, how can I live? I'm already Francis's woman."

"What did you say?" Dulce's face changed dramatically. "Wendy, what do you mean by Francis's woman?"

Wendy hesitated before saying, "Last Wednesday, Francis and my father-in-law drank too much and stayed over at our house. Then we... Miss Quixote, I really can't live without Francis. That night was consensual. I don't blame Francis, but now I'm his woman. My daughter is also hoping for Francis to be her father. If he doesn't want us, I really have no choice but to die."

Dulce understood everything. No wonder she couldn't reach Francis that day, and no wonder Francis had been avoiding her lately.

Dulce's face looked very unpleasant.

Wendy continued to speak pitifully, each word cutting into Dulce's heart.

Wendy was also very smart. She didn't say that she and Francis were in love. She used her weak situation to gain Dulce's sympathy and described that night as a result of drinking. This way, she cut off Dulce's hopes. Even if Francis found out, he wouldn't blame Wendy but would blame himself for losing control while drunk.

Dulce couldn't stay calm any longer. She left before Francis arrived.

As she left, her eyes were a bit red. Kieran saw her and wanted to ask what was going on, but Dulce had already gotten into her car and quickly drove away.

After Dulce left, Wendy wiped away her tears, a triumphant smile appearing on her lips.

She had said that no one could take Francis from her.

Not long after Dulce left, Francis hurried back.

Francis pushed open the office door and only saw Wendy. He asked, "Wendy, where's Dulce?"

He cared about Dulce. This brief question felt like a stab to Wendy's heart.

Wendy didn't show it. She still appeared gentle and kind, smiling as she said, "Miss Quixote said she had something to do and left. Francis, you're done with work, right? Brianna is about to finish school. Let's go pick her up together. Brianna said she misses you."

Wendy always used Brianna as an excuse, and Francis never minded before. But now, he felt inexplicably irritated.

Francis called Dulce, but when Dulce saw the caller ID, she hung up and blocked Francis.

Francis immediately sensed something was wrong and questioned Wendy, "Did you say something to Dulce?"

Wendy put on an innocent expression, "No, I was just chatting with Miss Quixote. She mentioned looking for you last Wednesday, and I explained that you were drinking with my father-in-law at our place. Oh, I accidentally let it slip, and Miss Quixote found out about that night. But Miss Quixote is your friend, she shouldn't spread it around."

Wendy knew very well that Dulce was Francis's girlfriend. She pretended not to know, making everything seem unintentional.
